This was shocking to me.. I have noticed an increase in earthquakes recently... RENO... OREGON...INDIANA... so I thought I would try to find something factual to see if there has really been an increase.. I went to the USGS site... USGS 6.0 or greater earthquakes
This page list all of the 6.0 or greater earthquakes but oddly enough they are not ordered by year.. really strange.. but I put it into an spreadsheet program and sorted them then counted them... If this is not proof that earthquake are increasing in frequency I do not know what is..

6.0 or larger by year for Entire World by year
1960 3
1962 3
1963 2
1964 4

2007 46
2008 15 (We are exactly 1/3 thru the year so at this rate) ?45?

What do you think? Are you shocked by this..... is this common knowledge and I am just catching wind of this?

Here it is again....the average number of 6.0 earthquakes per year per the USGS

1960-2001=4.2
2002-2008=34.5

PS.. I did not know where to post this... Thought this would be the best place.. open to suggestions....

I attribute this to the magma movement associated with magnetic pole reversal. This happens regularly.....every few hundred/thousand years.

Check out this thread.

I agree with the above post. The only thing which can have that great an affect would be in the Mantle.

I think this has been discussed before. The conclusion was that our methods for detecting earthquakes, (especially deep sea earthquakes), has improved greatly over time. Right along side the rest of technology.

^Probably the most valid cause.

I personally believe that the amount of negative energies we are projecting into the world is making the Earth sick, and maybe the earthquakes are a warning sign. If nothing is done about it, I could see it leading to the poles reversing.

So in 1995 we could not detect a 6.0 earthquake? These are 6.0 or larger quakes not small quakes.. sounds like a cover story to me..

Considering wikipedia says this:

6.0-6.9 Strong Can be destructive in areas up to about 100 miles across in populated areas. 120 per year

I'd say that it will be down to improved detection methods, and differing scales used, there are more than Just the Richter scale. In addition to that the USGS is best at getting quakes in the US accurately, worldwide ones are generally best found on local sites rather than only using the USGS.
