I think too that '___' has some good qualities. They did have some good results curing alcoholic with the stuff.

102 is a great age to live to. He certainly didn't use his creation.

Great thread, Rhain, Star'd & Flag'd!

Native American Indians were 'tuned in' long before the discovery of '___'.
Peyote and Native American culture

Then, his invention got hijacked for devious purposes:
MK-ULTRA, CIA Weapons and Mind Control

A quick little funny story about the good ol days of real Sandoz '___'
compared to the weaker stuff of today:
Sandoz '___': no better than modern acid?

Fantastic enlightenment, or horrifying consequences; judge for yourselves!
ME- I LOVE the 'trans-dimensional' shape-shifting I experimented with...
Just make sure you're camped out for a couple days!!!

What about YOU, Rhain, care to share?

Most certainly Albert Hofmann enjoyed the therapeutic benefit of his own creation for the rest of his life. As he died from an heartattack I'm not sure it was administered at his deathbed. Among its values it is known as drug for a peaceful passing. Aldous Huxley and Timothy Leary are known to have used it that way.

Here's a picture from when he was 100, and somewhere I have read an account from his centenary birthday saying it was a great party ..maybe because they dropped it.

Of course I can't find that article, but here's a link to the Wiki page on Dr Hofmann

Boy, he looks HAPPY in that photo! Thanks khunmoon. I think that's how
I look, sometimes!!!

He isn't showing any signs of his frustration with the banning of his
wonderful invention. After all, he could always make more!!!

Ahh what memories the name Abbey Hoffman has for me. [snip] I read Abbeys book titled "Steal This Book" it was typical of that era and that mindset.

I always liked your avatar Rhain, [snip]

Um, Abby and Albert were two different Hoffmans. Abby Hoffman died a number of years ago and was a political activist and writer.

Albert Hoffman was a scientist who found a way to open up our minds.
Both of them were my heroes.

Nope, never touched the stuff.

I truly believe that these drugs were taken when scholars walked the roads in our past. Tripping on mushrooms and silvia then writing down their spiritual experiences.

Here is a talk he gave. Hard to understand but I think he is talking about dimensions and '___' trips here.

edit to conform to site rules (my bad).

Hoffmann not only invented '___', he also discovered and named psilocin and psilocybin and did extensive work with mescaline. He was truly a pioneer of the mental realms!

What a trip. He lived for a long time for one that was a user and researcher. Wonder if it affected his skills later on in life or if he acted "normal" until the end.

Mr. Hofman.

May the world ride your bicycle,
Kiss your face as Jim kissed the sky,
Ride your magic ride with a pointy headed Bear,
Love your problem child as Leary did,
Comfort the afflicted as Dr. Humphrey done,
Make the world laugh as Hunter did,
Start a revolution with a magic bus,
and make Hells Angels laugh like toddlers.

They tried to make war with it, but all it brought was love.
