AMSTETTEN, Austria - The children locked in the basement never saw the light of day for years. A retired electrician has confessed to imprisoning his daughter for 24 years and fathering seven children with her in a windowless cell sealed by an electronic keyless-entry system, police said Monday.
One of the children died in infancy and was tossed into the furnace of what stunned Austrians have labeled a "house of horrors," officials said.

This story shocks me, i can't believe anyone is capable of horrific acts like this. Its sad how someone's father could do such horrible things to their own flesh and blood. yet again i cant believe this actually happened, It bad enough to see horrible things like this in the movies, but to turn on the news and see stuff like this just makes me sick.

the interesting part is, as always contemplating the sourroundings of this man and why people alledgedly did not notice anything.


small town gossip should take care of such secrets, obviously, so the best explanation would be that he had considerable power over the community, which jives well with his apparent ability to put food for more than a dozen people on the table, despite being retired and all.
