Hiyah Child,

Sort of hard to think anything really, reading the story, not much information there. The photo isn't great either. So I don't think any conclusion or even speculation can be arrived at, but just my opinion, thanks for posting it

Why dont they post the WHOLE picture????

You cant tell anything from this. For all we know it could be a hole in the wall with a cigarette pushed through

Compelling but hard to tell anything unless you saw the original picture. Certainly UFOs seem to be getting more and more press.. Whether this is simply a function of the growth of the internet I'm not certain.

I spent some great holidays in Croydon when I was a little girl (my grandparents used to live there before they died). So in the name of nostalgia I decided to take a look at the pic ... I don't see a cigarette in a hole ... I don't see a UFO.

I see someones 'Kiss Me Quick' hat being thrown in the air after a day-trip to Brighton on the train (ah the memories of childhood) !

1: It's Croydon, i wouldn't be surprised if random phenomena appeared five times a week down there, people are just too busy keeping their eyes on the ground.

2: It's the Sun, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Even if it is a UFO, the people of Croydon probably couldn't give two [profanity].

p.s; the place has changed a little since you were a little girl, woodwytch, just like everywhere else it's gotten bigger and meaner.

Thanks for the feedback. That picture was surely cropped too tight to even get an idea of what it really is ... I think that the "UFO" subject seems to be a common selling point for a lot of media nowadays.
I think it just adds to the confusion that already exists.

It sure is asymmetrical. Certainly not the first choice for something moving through an atmosphere. The witness said it was moving fast, and was the size of a small airplane, but size and distance are very hard to determine even if you're there.

My first thought that is was some kind of black garbage bag balloon. But who knows? As others have said, the story and the photo have so little detail that it's really hard to tell anything.

This Croydon ufo photograph looks very similar to the one taken in
Ocotlan Jalisco, Mexico by Alexander Bartley on February 16, 1994
wich is by now a classic. Fortunately the witness from Croydon came
forward with her testimonial showing her commitment to the sighting.

With the Ocotlan ufo photo I think we have a decent match to the
Croydon photo. Check the Ocotlan ufo and compare it with the one
from Croydon.

Not sure about this one. The photographer says "it was moving real fast" yet he got a good, non blurry photo. Also, it looks like its a picture taking at the Sun, and some camaras, and video are known to show black around the Sun.

Considering the source and the non-stop lies it spews out its likely nothing but a fake.

I am with dodgygeeza on this one....anything appearing in the SUN or other english tabloid paper is not worth anything, they could tell me grass was green and birds can fly and i wouldnt believe a word of it.

As for the picture (i feel dirty now i have been to the sun website)....its cropped wayyyyy too close and could be anything...but im erring on the kiss me quick hat too

now im off for a borax shower.... yuck...*shudder*

I was going to say the same thing, someone had a bag of mushrooms and were throwing them in the air and voila... you got your self a flying saucer... It doesn't even look like a saucer... when you compare that picture to the other picture that free_spirit put up. Clearly that looks like a UFO than this... I smell a dead rat... called fake...

Hey there Anti-Tyrant,

I know what you mean. I used to know Croydon and The good old 'Square Mile' like the back of my hand but haven't been to either since I was in my teens (nearly 30 yrs ago ... jeez that's depressing)

I know I wouldn't regonize either place now. Same thing happened to my old hometown in the Midlands ... used to be a lovely place ... now it's the asshole of the England.

(Greeneyedleo), glad the analogy made you smile.

I work in the media business and I can assure you,
'Silly Season' isn't too far away.
I suppose the only shocker is that there was a tourist
in Croydon!

PMSL I was wondering about that one too!

I wouldn`t look too much into images published in
the uk sun,it holds no water as a serious outlet for this
phenomenon,more of a comic book.
The image is a joke like the last one they published,
it could be anything from a hat to a banana for all we know.
Why they never printed the original photograph in it`s entirety
shows that they treat the subject matter with no respect imo.

A bunch of static electricity as all ufos are.

It pulsed so white and black areas exist from the wave action.

Sparky isn't it.

That looks like the pictures of those light fixtures from that mall that has the ceiling painted like the sky.

That's just at first glance though.

Since i don't know the story behind the photo, I'm most likely wrong, just throwing it out there.

As far as the OP. The Sun? Isn't that like the equivalent to the Enquirer(sp?) here in the states? Again I might be wrong. But the picture has zero reference in it, it could be anything really as Greeneyedleo said.
