Yeah, if you look into the work of Lyndsay Williams, he says that exact thing - that there are massive oil reserves in Alaska that the oil men are purposely not tapping into, in order to drive up prices.

As for faking a food shortage though, I don't think that works quite the same way - with huge hidden reservoirs of untapped food

Sorry for this one-liner, but my local newspaper stated that the main reason Canada is not feeling the food price rise is because our dollar is rising at about the same rate, which is why when this issue first came to light on ATS I had no idea what people were talking about, since I wasn't seeing it here in Canada.
