Nuclear weapons might be used in the near future.

The point that we have so many nuclear weapons in storage brings up the point, will we really ever use em?

I mean wut would be the point of powerful life destructive weapons, when we have no one to use it on?

Still there is the fact for security and yet again using nukes would be committing suicide, so still would it be possible to have a controlled environment where as a nuclear warhead will only affect its target and not the surrounding cities and peoples?

The thought of this would revolutionize nuclear weaponary.

Would it be possible? Any info? I'll do some searches to see if there is such a study to control a nuclear explosion in the limited space that we want it to demolish.

Sorry but we are unable to control the Gamma, Beta and Alpha particles that are released by nuclear weapons.

A and B's can be deflected by minor materials and leaded shielding. But G's are very powerful. To the order that scientists believe there are certain levels of "cosmic" radition (Gamma or someother unknown) that have such a high velocity that they actually are able to rip through the entire planet and exit on the other side. Passing complety through the earth's core.

The major problem is the ionization of the air particles after a nuclear explosion. These radioactive air particles are what kill of the highest percentage of proposed casualties. Provided you survive the blast radius etc. Simply intaking the radioactive air particles causing the release of massive amounts of free radicals inside your cells and your cellular structure decays from within.

Nope. Deterence & last resort for the big ones. I can see tactical nukes small ones used in very desperate situations. Nuclear terrorism by the bad guys is a real feasible threat and reality.
