one idea that pops into my mind is that when a war (not a conflict, whole different story) is declared, is it to inflict a polictical view or to filter out a race of people and/or a certain way of life.

Its a lot simpler than that. Picture children between 7 and 8 years old. Each child
has the name of a country on their back. Send them out on a playground,
without supervision. Watch the results. Now you got the picture.
