The Big Controversy

There is a big controversy brewing on the Internet and in the media.
It is over Darwinism and it's links to the holocaust, liberalism and a deep
devision in cultural views.
I believe this is a good topic for ATS to discuss. It is a controversy that
probably touchs many major conspiracies going on in the world. It also helps define the conspirators.
The U.S. is deeply divided between Conservatives and Liberia's. Those two sides are mostly taking positions on one side or the other of this controversy. I'm going to post a few links and quotes from recent articles to get the ball rolling.
First article.

It is a reality of PC liberalism: There is only one credible side to an issue, and any dissent is not only rejected, it is scorned. Global warming. Gay "rights." Abortion "rights." On these and so many other issues there is enlightenment, and then there is the Idiotic Other Side. PC liberalism's power centers are the news media, the entertainment industry and academia, and all are in the clutches of an unmistakable hypocrisy: Theirs is an ideology that preaches the freedom of thought and expression at every opportunity, yet practices absolute intolerance toward dissension.

The most controversial part of the film follows Stein to the Dachau concentration camp, underlining how Darwin's theories of natural selection led to the eugenics movement, embraced by Adolf Hitler. If there is no God, but only a planetary lab waiting for scientists to perfect the human race, where can Darwinism lead? Stein insists that he isn't accusing today's Darwinists of Nazism. He points out, however, that Hitler's mad science was inspired by Darwinism.

In response, historian Richard Weikart, PhD at UC Stanislaus, wrote an article for the The American Spectator to clarify the relationship between “Darwin and the Nazis.” He acknowledges that today’s Darwinists are not Nazis—far from it. Nevertheless, he listed six principles embedded in Darwin’s world view that cheapen the value of human life:

1. Humans are animals.
2. There is no soul.
3. Morality is relative.
4. Humans are unequal.
5. Nature is a struggle for existence.
6. Death is an engine of progress.

These principles were imbibed wholeheartedly by German scientists and philosophers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They, in turn, strongly influenced Hitler. In addition, Weikart, author of From Darwin to Hitler, showed how today’s staunch Darwinists believe the same principles. “Today’s Darwinists are not Nazis and not all Darwinists agree with Dawkins, Wilson, Ruse, Singer, or Watson,” he ended. “However, some of the ideas being promoted today by prominent Darwinists in the name of Darwinism have an eerily similar ring to the ideologies that eroded respect for human life in the pre-Nazi era.”

Well, it is a little known fact that not only does Darwinism lock out scientific inquiry from the Academy, as Stein’s movie amply chronicles, but it is also the case that Darwinism likes to hide, understandably so, some of its dark side. Few people realize that Darwinism’s committal to survival of the fittest has significant social implications. The social - racial implications of Darwinism was framed by Darwin himself in his blockbuster book ‘Descent of Man.’ In that book Charlie could write,

“With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to small-pox. Thus the weak members of civilised societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly any one is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.

Today the U.S. had a earthquake right down it's middle. A sign of the division that exist in our hearts and minds?
