I'm not sure I understand all of the complaints about the debate. True, values questions overtook policy questions but there is nothing wrong with
asking those sorts of questions (anything goes in a Presidential election). Let's face it, every possible policy question has been answered in the
first 10,000 debates, while most of the other questions had never been asked at a debate. Some people vote on policy, others on values and others for
a host of other reasons. No reason not to address everyone's questions.
