'Dozens hurt' in Dhaka protests

news.bbc.co.uk

Hundreds of people campaigning for Islamic rule in Bangladesh have clashed with police over a new policy advocating more rights for women.

Police used teargas and batons to break up the protests after members of the Islamic Constitution Movement (ICM) threw rocks in the capital, Dhaka.

Mokarram Hossain of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said there were more than 500 protesters and dozens were hurt.

Protesters had ignored a ban on such gatherings under a state of emergency.

It was imposed by an army-backed interim administration which took power in January last year.

being Org from bangladesh and with loads of family back there.
one thing i like about Bangladesh is the fact that its not Run solely on Islamic Laws.

i was there when the terrorist attacks happend (one happend on the same route i was on and i would have been right next to it if i found my camera batteries on time)

i dont see how this would Help bangladesh if these nut cases got what they wanted and made bangladesh follow their line of thinking. being a secular country means more progress can be made then holding everyone back.

right now Bangladesh follows laws deprived from British laws and adapted.
and thats how it should remain.
