2/G11/VHN/R28-64 SIGINT Readiness Bravo Lantern Report Nr. 4
This is a follow up report to the 2 August 1964 attack on the USS Maddox

Document date: 1964-08-03
Department: NSA Headquarters, Ft. Meade, MD (DIRNSDA)
Author: SIGINT; Phu Bai
Document type: Report
pages: 1

Archivist's Notes: This report is not very interesting but what it does mention is a number of comms between DRV entities that are not readable. It also gives approximate locations of the entities but is not conclusive.

This document is one of several readiness reports of activity by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) after the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, in which the DRV attacked US Naval vessels.

This report appears to be an assessment of radio activity that may have lead to a possible location of a headquarters on the right bank, with communications directed toward an unknown subordinate located in the western direction. The message is written as if it were a coded message so it is not readily understandable. One thing to keep in mind is that during time of war, it is common practice to put out deceiving messages when you know the enemy is listening in.
