The French bloated bureaucracy taxed the people to no end and they finally rose up and killed their tax masters.

The socialists and democrats have a lot in common with the old French bureaucracy that stifled the working class and the merchants. Taxes are needed but repressive and punitive taxes kill jobs and create inflation.

When bureaucrats live high on the hog off our taxes it’s the working class and mom and pop businesses that carry the burden

Democrats sell us on raising taxes on the corporations and why not? But the fact is all expenses by companies are passed on to the consumer including taxes, hence higher gas at the pump and on the food we eat.

Actually its purpose was just to cut the heads of people in general. Ironically its own creator was later guillotined. There just happened to be a lot of tax collectors in France that people wanted sans head at the time.

It was also intended a bit as a torture device. Since the head was still moving for a minute or so after decapitation, they figured the head would see it's own body.
