It was a totally unexpected and very pleasant surprise to log into ATS late last night and see I won the AIASP short story contest. I am very
flattered, especially given the great nature of the other stories, and talent of the other writers here.
This story
“The Index To Her Soul” was written in a single sitting, over the
course of many hours, and spoke fairly deeply to me. Since writing this story, I’ve been haunted by the vision it presents -- of sadness, horror,
and hope. I don’t like dwelling on that vision, and haven’t visited that thread for some time now (hence my lack of replies to those that have
added to my original thread.)

I thought it was an appropriate story for ATS, which is one of the premier sites I have found that discusses consciousness theories, and alternate
realities. Although we all know that ATS is the leader in conspiracy theories, I don’t know how many people are also aware that ATS is a
heavy-hitter in the serious area of Cognitive Sciences as well.
Consciousness – what is it? You tell me, I don’t know, but I think some of us might be figuring that out here soon! (As likely here as somewhere
else!)
What I love about ATS, and its members, is that we are all thinking in a similar fashion about these topics. Add to that the real genius and insight
you find over and over again, posted by talented members in many different forums – you can see why I spend so much time here (if that reason is
lost on my family and friends) and why I am so proud, and humbled, to have contributed a distinguishing post at ATS with this story.
To my fellow writers – what can I say? Art imitates reality. Keep writing, and I will keep reading. You are all the greatest!
Thanks again, and most sincere best regards!
