Ok before i start i have recieved word back from the company dealing with the recording of the apollo tapes....

It has been shipped and should be with me very soon....

Now The gentleman I have been talking to who stays in our Premier Inn has if you have read my thread regarding genuine apollo recording.

Stated that a larger effort concentrating on saturn is either iminent or underway...

I have just come across some Information I would like to share with you all...

Cassini Tastes Organic Material at Saturn's Geyser Moon
March 26, 2008

PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA's Cassini spacecraft tasted and sampled a surprising organic brew erupting in geyser-like fashion from Saturn's moon Enceladus during a close flyby on March 12. Scientists are amazed that this tiny moon is so active, "hot" and brimming with water vapor and organic chemicals.

New heat maps of the surface show higher temperatures than previously known in the south polar region, with hot tracks running the length of giant fissures. Additionally, scientists say the organics "taste and smell" like some of those found in a comet. The jets themselves harmlessly peppered Cassini, exerting measurable torque on the spacecraft, and providing an indirect measure of the plume density.

"A completely unexpected surprise is that the chemistry of Enceladus, what's coming out from inside, resembles that of a comet," said Hunter Waite, principal investigator for the Cassini Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. "To have primordial material coming out from inside a Saturn moon raises many questions on the formation of the Saturn system."

"Enceladus is by no means a comet. Comets have tails and orbit the sun, and Enceladus' activity is powered by internal heat while comet activity is powered by sunlight. Enceladus' brew is like carbonated water with an essence of natural gas," said Waite.

The Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer saw a much higher density of volatile gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as organic materials, some 20 times denser than expected. This dramatic increase in density was evident as the spacecraft flew over the area of the plumes.

New high-resolution heat maps of the south pole by Cassini's Composite Infrared Spectrometer show that the so-called tiger stripes, giant fissures that are the source of the geysers, are warm along almost their entire lengths, and reveal other warm fissures nearby. These more precise new measurements reveal temperatures of at least minus 93 degrees Celsius (minus 135 Fahrenheit.) That is 17 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than previously seen and 93 degrees Celsius (200 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than other regions of the moon. The warmest regions along the tiger stripes correspond to two of the jet locations seen in Cassini images.

"These spectacular new data will really help us understand what powers the geysers. The surprisingly high temperatures make it more likely that there's liquid water not far below the surface," said John Spencer, Cassini scientist on the Composite Infrared Spectrometer team at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo.

Previous ultraviolet observations showed four jet sources, matching the locations of the plumes seen in previous images. This indicates that gas in the plume blasts off the surface into space, blending to form the larger plume.

Images from previous observations show individual jets and mark places from which they emanate. New images show how hot spot fractures are related to other surface features. In future imaging observations, scientists hope to see individual plume sources and investigate differences among fractures.

"Enceladus has got warmth, water and organic chemicals, some of the essential building blocks needed for life," said Dennis Matson, Cassini project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "We have quite a recipe for life on our hands, but we have yet to find the final ingredient, liquid water, but Enceladus is only whetting our appetites for more."

At closest approach, Cassini was only 30 miles from Enceladus. When it flew through the plumes it was 120 miles from the moon's surface. Cassini's next flyby of Enceladus is in August.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. The mission is managed by JPL for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington.

A sniff test of water vapor spewing from Saturn's moon Enceladus shows it is gushing with organic molecules, increasing the possibility of life existing somewhere in the Saturn system.

Scientists have been intrigued by the moon since the fountain of water was first spotted in 2005. Now they've identified a soup of prebiotic material there, similar to what's found in comets, from an analysis of data collected by the Cassini spacecraft.

Nobody really knows how life began, but astrobiologists guess it required chemicals like those tasted by Cassini, a little liquid water and some unknown spark.

Hunter Waite, a Cassini principal investigator at the Southwest Research Institute (SWRI) in San Antonio, said Enceladus' newly understood composition should stir up previous notions of Saturn and its moons.

"These findings will definitely get people to ask new questions about the formation of the Saturn system," Wait told SPACE.com. "The astrobiological potential of the Saturn system just went up a notch or two."

Cassini made its observations during a high-speed pass 30 miles above Enceladus on March 12, and recorded the highest temperatures yet detected near tiger stripe-like fissures on the icy moon's southern pole.

Waite and other scientists released their early findings about Enceladus' thermal activity and icy plume composition during a briefing today at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Big comet?
The new heat maps of Enceladus' surface show temperatures higher than previously observed in the south polar region, with hot tracks running the length of giant fissures.

"They're still awfully cold, but much warmer than background temperatures of the rest of the surface," said John Spencer, a Cassini scientist at SWRI in Boulder, Colo. "This means it has to be even warmer under the surface and raises the possibility of liquid water beneath the [exterior]."

Cassini measured the fissures to be -135 degrees Fahrenheit (-93 degrees Celsius) near their centers.

Maybe Just maybe their is life closer to home than first regarded....

Nasa recently cut the Mars budget to concentrate on investigating this part of our solar system and beyond...

Now here comes my opinions...

I like to believe in a little bit of conspiracy....

Just say we have been to Mars already (which we have robotically) and Nasa think there is nothing of intrest....Nasa really need a big catch they need to get a big break so they can secure major funding.

The American Economy would start to recover with even the slightest chance of their being life in our solar system...other than here on earth....

the amount of unilateral science contributions from around the world would be incredible...

and guess what folks this could be achieved in our life times!

I would expect major news on this very soon...First stop saturn 2nd stop europa....

This would invigorate the public and get them to intrested in a major way in space... massive leaps in technology would start to fruitate...( even though i believe we have already the technology developed its just a case of when it is shown to thew world)

I dont think the end of the world is around the corner i think 2012 is when we as humans are humbled and realise that life exists everywere...the mayan calander ends because it will be the end of life as we know it and the world will become smaller! we will have a greater cause to join together....this will also pave the way for other races from other planets to contact us as we will have accepted as a whole life exists elsewere and we will reach our next platuae in human understanding through this....

I think maybe Other aliens are waiting to contact once we have made contact ourselves even if it is with primitive organisms....

once we prove that we can respect a tiny organism we will prove we can respect other life...we have the opputunity to change....to change the world...to change our lifes.....to change the world....No matter what race you are what creed or religion contact NASA contact ESA lets make this happen....

Anyway I know this is a bit out there but this all started with a snipet of Information from a gentleman who used to work for the british Space industry...one of the guy's at Jodrell Bank who intercepted Sputnik...

Watch and embrace...

Change is a wonderfull beautiful thing...

No takers?

I Haven't seen any other disscusions on this....

Is this not intresting? The fact that Life could exists in our solar system closer than first thought?

Or is this too indepth for this time of night?

There may soon be signs of intelligent life on Saturn's moon, Enchilada.
I had to say it - helps with the memory. There is a chance to jump start that moon, if we decide to seed that moon with a "pod" of living organisms. So, this so-called crash for a water search could be an effort to seed the moon with life? That is what came to mind. These accidents on purpose make no sense to me really.

On its own, just molecules shaking hands just right to make cells on a hot soupy moon? Can't say yet. Get it working on earth, then maybe I will have an opinion about a moon that I doubt is in a Goldilocks Zone.

There have baan a couple of threads on this subject. My own included, but none as well explained.

I too have a lot of faith that we will very soon have positive evidence of life elsewhere. (Not including on PX
)
We are weekly receiving news of other planets showing the basic elements of what we have declared as being the necesities of life.
Spare a thought for the other possible forms of life not needing what we deem to be necessary. I saw a doco theother day that showed a microbe that lived in stream of sulphuric acid.
Looking very much forward to the positive news.

Surely this thread desrves a little more attention....

This is major news....

I worry sometimes that unless you post something verging on the ridiculous no one pays attention....

Ok we had some guy saying that we have massive battleships near saturn...gets loads of attention

I post something based on facts and something of major interest and wow i post a dud....

Is it me or am i just missing something?

Am i out of the loop?

LoL dont be suprised when my next post starts off saying.....

" aliens shooting in my backyard whilst i recieve anal probe "

I couldn't agree more Ian. Maybe you need to post it in Skink Works. I have noticed that SCI & TECH and Space exploration gets bugger all attention.
small concellation but stars from me

Cant wait for those tapes

Ok Im going to take a a massive risk here and state on record i believe somewhere in our solar sustem is life...

It might be microbial it might be sea life ie fish....

but the odds are now in favour of life rather than against....our solar system is looking less hostile by the minute....

What are on those tapes?

Supposedly unheard direct feed recordings from apollo 11 from an old man who claims to have worked at jodrell bank (i think)

i think the tapes are back now so i dont understand the delay in posting, especially given some of Ians comments about how important these are and him not believeing the lack of attention.

Ian, there is no lack of interest i assure you, i and many others are STILL waiting patiently to hear these recordings, but you must understand that with all the hoax´s and the attention thats appeared recently, some people are getting impatient and more and more dubious by the day

perhaps what is happening on one of saturn's moon is a possible insight into how planet earth came to be.

perhaps we may be witness to the origins of a new planet that can sustain life. such a possibility can have very serious implications for mankind.

the philosophical and perhaps religious beliefs that everyone has could change.

of course this is my spin on the topic at hand...

as for your other thread ian, when will it happen?

Why did you promise tape recordings in your other thread and not post so much as a picture of them as was requested?

I'm sorry but your credibility thus far is......lacking

I was watching a program last night on the Cassini probe. When the lander first set down on Titan (rock and water ice) its gas sniffer detected methane from underneath the lander. They think it was because the residual heat melted the ice it was sitting on which released the methane. Bodies of liquid (hydrocarbon lakes) have been found as well as cryo volcano's.

Titan

So it wouldn't surprise me if microbe life is found elsewhere in our solar system.

it seems inevitable.

It's April 14th. What-say-you in regards to those tapes Ian? I see your SETI HIT is taking up alot of your time. Hopefully your computer won't crash with all the digitized evidence on it (burp!)

The hypothesis of life existing on several planets (others than ours) is something that cannot easily be ignored. And I really don't think that aggresive environments are a hinderance to it developing. I say this because it is a fact that life can survive in the most incredible environments in the form of extremophiles.

An extremophile is an organism that thrives in and may even require physically or geochemically extreme conditions that are detrimental to the majority of life on Earth.

Two other good articles here:

www.daviddarling.info...

and here:

www.astrobiology.com...

A quote from this site gives a good example of how tough these lil critters are:

The most obvious example of a significant physical limit on our kind of life is the need for liquid water. Life, as we currently understand it on Earth, is limited by the boiling and freezing points of water. This is the solvent in which all our life chemistry takes place. Of course, some organisms have found ingenious ways to stretch or avoid these temperature constraints. Adding anti-freeze compounds such as highly concentrated sugars, salts, and amino acids to their cells has allowed some organisms like the tiny crustaceans known as "water bears" and many species of microorganisms to live in sub-freezing temperatures. Indeed, the chemistry and adaptations of creatures like the icefishes of Antarctic waters means that they MUST live at cold temperatures. Above 4°C, these animals suffer from "heat exhaustion" and may die.

So there is the possibility that life more than likely can survive on, or beneath the surface of our neighbouring planets.

As an aside, does the subject of this thread have anything to do with this thread:

where you said:

Just a question what was Alternative 1?

I have asked this before, but have yet to recieve an answer.

Im afraid the OP is coming across as someone desperate for attention, points and flags. Even in this thread he moans that no one is giving it enough attention.

Like i said in the tapes thread, the OP must be the luckiest guy in the world to have complete strangers giving him unheard apollo tapes AND getting a signal on his seti at home

he admits hes had the tapes for over two weeks yet still no sign...
