The head of a company vying to sell voting machines in Ohio told Republicans in a recent fund-raising letter that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."

Honestly, I would love to see the source code for this program. Not to hack it, but to just see if there is anything suspicious.

Please do. Is the CPU on the machine, or do they all feed into a central computer?

As a consevative I would feel much better about these voting machines if they printed receipts, that way I would know for sure my vote was counted twice.

Seriously though two receipts printed one for county clerk, one for my record might be the way to go - theres a lot of hackers on both sides of the political fence that could screw with an election.

Is this the same Diebold that handles most of the ATM's in this country?

If so then yes their code is very simplistic pre-dos based code. I have worked at a couple of banks and the programs needed to interact with these machines is ancient. To run the software your machine has to be Windows 98 or less and you have to setup a custom enviroment to run the program in.

Personally, I would feel better with a system that has physical proof to the vote.
