Rods are an artifact created by the slow shutter speed of most video camera's. Essentially they are insects & sometimes birds that are captured multiple times in the same frame.

Might want to try the Search feature here. I've listed a few threads the first is the last significant one, and includes chat about an a recent television program done by the history Channel that used high speed cameras to prove Rods are nothing but regular bugs.

This thread IMHO had the best chance of showing a 'rod' as something other than a bug. But it was also debunked, and Fox News won't comment.

For me the best thing about Roswell-Rods is that when they
arrived in the van and without a bye-or-leave, they set about
unblocking my can.
I'm a sucker for banana and peanut-butter sandwiches and as
you can guess, my gal is sick of the plumber bills.

Plumber bills are related to the Waxwings and migrate North in
late-fall.

Hmmm, I think I should've only taken two of these and not the handful.
