I recently picked up 3 Post Dealer UMPs from Phil Flack at PF CUSTOM GUNS in NC. 2 are 45 and the other a 40. I took them out to the range today and
put around 500 rounds through the UMP45 and 300 through the UMP40. They are very well made guns, and I love the AR style bolt release on the side.
However I have to say that the MP5 is a MUCH better weapon. For one thing I am a big guy. 6 foot 250lbs. And the UMP was almost too much to handle on
FA. The damn gun weighs less than 5lbs, and at 6 230 grain rounds per second it is a rough ride. The 40 aint much easier. I had gotten sloppy with the
MP5s over the years in my stance, and with the UMPs you really need a good SMG stance. Bent knees and damn near fall into the recoil. anybody else out
there shot one of these? Just want to hear what you think about them. Thanks.
I've always liked the look of the UMP series, never fired one, but thought they were pretty slick. I can understand firing a .45 sub would be tough.
Sorry I cant really coment on the kick of the weapon, but I did have a question for you, why did you by 2 in the .45 calibre? Im pretty sure they
make a 9mm aswell (UMP9)...Did they not have them at the store?
No he did not have one in 9mm. I would have much rather had the 9 than the 40. In fact I would have got 2. As dealers we are limited too 2 sales
samples only per ATF regs, of any specific model. I did put in the forms on a HK 416 while I was up there. He only had the 14.5 barrel version (M4)
but what the hell. I wanted the 10. But hard too be picky when he has them NIB and IN STOCK..lol...Most of the HK demo guns are worn the hell out from
range rentals. Thanks for the reply!
I do have 2 of the 9mm on order as of my last email! Kick ass!!!! HK had a couple NIB too ship PF. So looks like I am in luck. Also Adam at
hkparts.net has tons of the 30rnd mags for them at a decent price. So, I will post a reply a few weeks from now on how they shot....James Bond
