Alright, I will tell you that I have been on sort of a religious kick lately on ATS, and BTS. Which is why I am starting THIS particular thread.

Well, I will just go down the list, as in the title, Bible, Jesus, and Faith... etc... lets start off with the Bible

Now, there are many people who will come to this thread and simply say all the Contradictions I am about to state have already been debunked. Which in all actuality is completely false. There are just to many of these contradictions for all of them to be debunked, especially with all the different forms of the "HOLY BIBLE"

Furthermore, the missing books of the bible, What happened to them, well, most know or have heard that they haven't yet benn "translated". Well, I find that hard to believe. If all the other books in the bible have been translated how can the ones that aren't not be. Especially with the technology and Specialists that we have for these sort of things. This is something that I have stated numerous times in the religious threads on here. No one has yet to tell me anything on the question, Where are the books on Jesus while he was growing up, what happened to him, furthermore, was he still this "WONDEROUS HEALER"?

Which leads us into my next topic, JESUS!!! oooh here's the fun.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, where do I start. Oh! I know, with his mother, Mary Magdelene. Alright, It's extremely hard to believe that some "SUPREME BEING" impregnated her. Well, this I believe is highly doubtful, and this is why. Throughout history there have been proven episodes of women who have more testosterone in their system than a "normal" female would and that through this hormone, they technically impregnated themself. In most cases, the baby doesn't even make it to the second tri-mester, because the womans body can't take the child. This is probably how Mary conceived Jesus, if infact Mary was a virgin as the Bible says. Even the "virgin" part, I find HIGHLY doubtful. NEXT The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, how is it possible that Jesus (dead jesus) could be removed from a Cavern with a Giant rock put infront of the opening. Yadda Yadda Yadda, I have heard all kinds of different theories, about the hole in the roof of the tomb of Jesus and that is how he got out. It still doesn't come out right, nothing seems normal. I think that the people who put him through the "STIGMATA" that he went through, probably brought him from out of that "hole through the roof" and barried him somewhere, where his Supposed followers couldn't find him.

NEXT FAITH!!

This is not to take away your faith. Trust me, I don't want/nor will tell you that You believing in God, JESUS, The bible is wrong. The whole story to me is false through my eyes. Your faith is just that YOURS. I only post this to hopefully open EYES to the POSSIBILITY of falsities that are in the bible, in the story of Jesus. This is Where the quotation "Think outside the box" comes to mind. Just look up some of these stories. Read into it more than to just read and take literal, try reading and understanding what I have proposed. Faith, I have faith in the fact that hopefully someone will read this and possibly try to see what I have said, and hopefully, not take it to heart until they ACTUALLY read and COMPREHEND what they are reading. Which may take a while, because, in my opinion to be a christian you have been brainwashed. Not in the form of literal machines brainwashing you. But in the sence that that is all you have been told to know since you were born (you meaning the Christian world). Just try to see things through someone elses eyes. Try to "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX".

I'm hearing what you're saying...that's cool.

I want to ask you a few things, if you don't mind terribly...

Without putting me in any catagory in your mind, and just listen to my words that I tell you...

1. Suppose that Jesus couldn't be pegged as something tangible.
2. Suppose that we don't know what this fellow looks like.

Let's pretend that he is a 'face-less entity' from this point on. You don't know what he looks like, but have read his words.

I know that Jesus has been portrayed in many portraits/paintings, and somehow, our society has fixiated on certain 'looks' of Jesus. He somehow, somewhere, became synonomous with being: Long haired/blue eyed?/bearded...well.. you get what I'm saying?

I wonder what Christian blind people see in their mind, when the Lord is described to them?

It is because we don't have an actual picture of our Lord, that alot of times we 'need something tangible' to equate with. For whatever reasons. What ever helps I guess?

In truth...NOBODY, save the people that were alive around the time that our Lord ministered, NOBODY today, knows what He looks like exactly. We can only hope to guess.

It's HIS MESSAGE, His Words, that are most important to Christians all around the world.

I can understand the overwhelming feelings and thoughts that you must have. I had them once. Sometimes they crop up time to time, but I remind myself of the bigger picture.

If I were to describe the bigger picture (that I have in my mind/heart) right now, it might mean squat diddly to you. Then again, it may not.

I'm just one soul, on this planet, typing to you right now, with good intentions. I don't have much....but that's all I have, and I love sharing my thoughts and feelings with you and other members.

Nice post Ducky!

And you're right. You are on to what is coming out now. I grew up Christian and interpreted the whole story like you would watching a movie or reading a book as also being something that had happened, but when you get right down to it, like those atheists have helped me understand, that you have to strip the entire story of physical proof to truly understand it.

I know they may not believe in God, but they have certainly enlightened me by separating any external proof I may have used to justify what I believe, so that I can only base it on faith.

That's one miraculous washing of the soul to have a non-believer make you believe in God without evidence, don't you think?

It's like they helped me get better with what is perceived to be a doomed belief system.

How terrible for many Christians who are justifying their faith on a man.

Someone told me the other day, that they found Christ's blood soaked robe and steel spikes that they had used. How nonsensical is that? How could they prove his DNA.

The bible is a living story not a dead one.

How much more can we 'strip away'?

"There is much more than meets the eye."

I think Ben, there is more than the tangible.

We are a young race. To fit ourselves into a mold of 'just the physical' is denying our minds, bodies, souls, and hearts of other things.

"Things of seen and unseen.

We need to explore things around us. Can't you feel that?

There is MUCH MUCH more than the tangible.

We can't just accept our human (frailities) 'absolutes'.

There IS more. We must'nt just accept 'what is', as prescribed unto us by other mortals who think they know it all...or close to.

If Greed was a bad thing, "to want physical things", then Spiritual greed must be the 'wanting beyond the physical'.

We must strive further.

Well Ducky, I've managed to strip away all of the physical aspects of it. That way it is bare and naked for what it is really saying.

I've seen the creations, the judgments, and the armageddons. I am pretty sure we have a mere couple days left, but I am simply astounded by all I see and not scared.

Are you going to join into a discussion, or just throw out some sort of half argument and walk away?
Just wondering.
I am getting tired of people acting like that.
I respond, and all I get is people jumping in with some agenda, getting off topic and no further input from the OP.
I would be happy to discuss the phalisy of your post, unless your "kick" has worn off, already.
To start with, you base your argument on the worse of the "christian" assumptions about religion.

Ahhh, but do you see the signs?

What happened to the time this year Ducky?

What did the government do to the savings of daylight this year, sweetheart?

Think about that closely, for its a sign to me and I hope it is to you.

Actually, Jmdewey, I lost my internet for about a month after I posted this thread that is why I haven't posted anything... and I am just now logging on to ATS and BTS because I had to go and get another new password, because I forgot my old one. So I wasn't just throwing out an arguement and walking away.

Id like to back up a minute and propose a view from a little farther out that may help to put things into perspective.

I personally have pondered and read, studied and mulled over the many aspects of religion. The concept and even the conceivable intent of Gods emergence into the mind of man.

When one reads the Bible, factual or not in its detail, its clear that its a book about the big picture. The entrance of mankind and his relationship with the higher power that brought him to be.

In the early books of the Old testament, God sends his Word which is his voice and will to mankind and begins a process of revelation starting with Adam and Eve, but really starting en-mass with Moses and the Exodus.

The Word of God coming to mankind, and getting mankind to comprehend him is a daunting task. The Exodus was an education to both the Israelites and the Egyptians that there is something infinitely greater then both.

The introduction of law to mankind as dictated to Moses and its application into society produced a mountain of Laws, many of which were mans adaption and interpolation into society.

The Book of Kings shows that even when the Lord gives Israel all they need, that even then they strayed and began honoring other fictional deities.

The appearance of Jesus, regardless of some of the details, presents a teaching and a command of Love everyone regardless. That in doing so you honor him, and in honoring him, you bring honor to the Father.

The 1000 Mile up view is that mankind appears in an infinite universe, a probability of the impossible. That he is contacted by the Word which created him, and mans ignorance and inability to comprehend or even want to comprehend, thus leads to the degradation of mankind.

When one considers the message of Jesus, and bypasses perhaps some of the details that seem highly improbable, we see a man full of Love, Compassion and Forgiveness who carries within him the key that saves mankind from something which he knows not, and ultimately even himself.

Jesus is a Good man. His wish was for all of us to be like lone rangers. Helping others, being honest, and trustworthy and true.

His Vision was the way. His vision was life, and it is his vision, that was how we as men of Truth are supposed to be. Not all the hoopla and pomp of religion, but people of integrity and goodness. The common ground between man and woman and all mankind. A common ground between nations in the midst of humanity, be it Muslim or Jew, Christian or Pagan.

That within his way, that man will throw down his sword, and make a plow.

It is his vision, and it is mine.

We all need Love.

Peace
