Was watching some early morning TV and came across a report saying that heaps of people apparently saw a giant light in the sky over Brisbane over the weekend that was shrugged off as some kind of plane from New Zealand ..... but from what I can gather it was a bit more than that.....???

Did anyone from ATS see anything or better still did anyone catch this event on camera.....

I saw a thread on another conspiracyesque forum asking if anyone had seen a comet on saturday. I cant link it or i will get my bum banned from here as the other forum is the arch inferior, suspect rival of ATS . Im sure if you google the words "australia comet conspiracy" you will find it in the top three sites.

What show did you see the report on?

The ISS passed overhead in orbit on Saturday night around 8.33pm over the skies of Melbourne. It was on a trajectory that would have taken it past Brisbane many minutes later.

There was a report in Saturday's Melbourne Herald-Sun that tipped-off all of us skywatchers to go outside and see it. Despite moderate cloud-cover, I still saw it. Yeah, it was that bright. If I did not know any different, then I could understand how many people would have been unsure what it was.

It was brighter than Sirius and moved at a reasonable pace across the sky. You would have seen the same thing in Brisbane too.

LOL, they said they seen it on “Mornings with Kerri-Anne”. Trust me, NO ONE records that program!

Unfortunately (and I shiver when I say this) Kerri-Anne does have her own website for the show, and you can look at things that where on “today’s show”, you might find something on the shows site.

Here is the link (shiver again, errrr)

Eh tezzajw!

Spewing I missed Kerrie Ann but I was fast asleep! Bad night with the heatwave!! pheww!

At approximately 8:40 last night (Sunday) I saw a big white light over Melbourne 'burbs' (looking in a northerly direction from Langwarrin) until it faded away into the night, heading east to west. It was way too big to be a regular satellite and far too high to be a commercial aircraft. Was the ISS over us then? I gathered that's what I saw!

A possibly related reported sighting in the western suburbs of Brisbane, apparently taking place at around 6:13pm 16th March west of Brookfield: youtube link

The original posting can be found here.

Since the overclockers.com.au forum linked above currently restricts access to registered users I will quote the original poster's account:

I saw what looked like a comet yesterday, at 6:13pm in Brookfield, Brisbane's western suburbs. It was West of Brookfield.

Sorry about the pic quality, was rushing to get it before it went behind trees. It looked much better in real life, more colour too.

It was a lot higher in the sky at first, and it had a lot more colour, an orange tinge. It appeared to be falling. I didn't think it was an airplane.

Just read this article on the News.com.au
www.news.com.au...

AN outback farmer is on a mission to identify a strange ball of twisted metal - purported to be fallen space junk - which mysteriously turned up on his remote property.

James Stirton of Cheepie, 130km from Charleville in southwestern Queensland, was heading out to feed cattle on his 40,500-hectare property when he came upon the bizarre-looking blackened ball.

Hi All,

Last night around midnight 22nd Oct 2008/23rd Oct 2008 I saw what seemed to be a small fireball (or orange light) of some sort that flew across the sky. I witnessed this from Redcliffe, QLD. It flew from one side of the sky to the other and was very fast and left a hazy trail. I guess I could compare it to a firework before it explodes or flare or toy rocket. It was not a shooting star (compared to the one's that I have seen) and could have been one of the things I just mentioned.

It traveled across most of the sky above me... a very long way and very fast. Just wondering if anyone might have seen it or know what it was.

Cheers, Gadz

This could not have been a comet - comets remain visible for days and weeks at a time.

More likely, people were seeing Taurid fireballs - the Taurids peaked over last weekend.

You may want to check this guide before ruling out meteors totally:

We are talking about the giant circular light made out of smaller circular lights with a semi circle of little circular lights right?
