Subvocal Device enables Silent Speech

From NewScientist, A New Device is able to read nerve signals, allowing people to train themselves to speak subvocally and their speech is played back through an electronic voice.

A neckband that translates thought into speech by picking up nerve signals has been used to demonstrate a "voiceless" phone call for the first time.

With careful training a person can send nerve signals to their vocal cords without making a sound. These signals are picked up by the neckband and relayed wirelessly to a computer that converts them into words spoken by a computerised voice.

I would imagine this would enhance Silent Ops, allowing soldiers to communicate subvocally through earpieces without making an actual sound.

It would also probably serve the Mute, or people who have had their vocal chords damaged.

Although I wonder if it might be abused in further development, people using sound clips from famous stars to impersonate them, or other important people... though it would be cool to sound like anyone you might wish to.
