UK upgrades snipers

I completed my sniper training with the L96 and completed 2 tours using that weapon. To be honest i absolutely loved that weapon. As Paddy says though it has been in UK Armed Forces a while now. My usual way of thinking is "If its not broken then dont fix it" but if the MOD want to spend a bit of cash for once then i say "Let em"

Its quite coincidental as i was only thinking of this weapon this afternoon after watching sport shooting on TV and hearing the name "Accuracy International"

The L96 is a mighty fine weapin system out to 1000 meteres. beyond that the scope and round suffer alot - A new, larger round, better scope and hey presto you have a spanking 'reach out and touch the hearts and minds' system.

The fact that the RM and Army both love the L96a1 so much is testament to its ruggedness and ease of operations in harsh environments a sniper faces. (not saying his number 2 doesn't face hardships... )
