Plane makes emergency stop due to outbreak of unknown illness

A plane en route from the Dominican Republic to Canada made an emergency landing Tuesday night in Florida after passengers complained of being sick, officials said.

Officials said they don't know what sickened the passengers who left Punta Cana in eastern Dominican Republic about 9:30 p.m.

The plane made the emergency stop "Due to the multiple symptoms and unknown illness" apparently. The fact that the illnesses are unknown as of yet does seem to unsettle me a bit.

It's also weird that this illness spread so fast too..

I guess the outbreak of a lethal virus in a confined space such as an aeroplane is one way to take a lot of lives at once.

Let's hope its just a small cold or something though.

The National Post is now reporting that most of the ill passengers had apparently eaten at the same place before boarding. I guess food poising could be the logical answer to this incident.

8 passengers were sick, they were family members who had eaten together.
Still cause for concern, but the plane got back up in the air not long after qurantine.

The ill passengers turned out to be family members who had eaten together. All are hospitalized, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined that their illness wasn't airborne.
