MARINE experts have found what they claim is a world first - a six-legged octopus, or "hexapus", that they have christened Henry.

Unique... the six-legged octopus

If this is a new species or just a mutant, I think will be determined by what the off spring look like.
Just my thoughts.

whats interesting about an octopus is that what they learn is actually memorised by the tentacles.

there was an experiment where they put a fish in a jar and put the lid on, but punched holes in the lid so the octo' could smell the fish.
it figured out how to unscrew the lid so it could get to the fish which proved that they do actually do problem solving.

then it lost one tentacle (one used for jar opening) and when its tentacle grew back it had to re-learn how to open the jar all over. it was as if losing that tentacle meant losing the memory/action of jar opening altogether.

quite interesting creatures really.
