I'm not sure how to use this site the right way yet, or if I'm in the right section, but here is a link to the breaking news in the mass media down here in Australia about scientist finding Planet X at the edge of our solar system...

news.sbs.com.au...

Why are they telling us now and what will they gain by doing it?

Any suggestions...?

Yes. Perhaps they want to share their findings with everyone? That way astronomers know that there's an extension to the solar system. Science, rational thought, the usual dull stuff. Could that be ever so slightly plausible?

Scientists discover solar system's 'Planet X'

Please change the thread title. The writer of that news article is extremely irresponsible for suggesting that this Planet X has been discovered, when it quite clearly hasn't.

Agreed, very misleading title, in the original article.

Just to put things into perspective...

From the same article -

Scientists at a Japanese university believe another planet...

Researchers at Kobe University in western Japan say theoretical calculations using computer simulations led them to conclude it was only a matter of time before the mysterious 'Planet X' was found.

(emph. mine)

It's laughable, actually.

Be nicer to newbies!

Any who I thought planet X can refer to any postulated but as yet undiscovered planet? no? Bit like situation X could be zombie attack or mother in law coming over - how would you react in a given situation (actually I believe the actions for those two scenarios are very similar - both require damaging the brain stem... it's the only way to stop em!)

Thank you for your input people, It will help me alot on this site.

They're saying IF there's a planet X, it will likely be found soon. Not that there is one.

Scientists discover solar system's 'Planet X'

The quote above is the title of this thread, and also the title of the news article. That suggests that a new planet has been discovered. Since that isn't the case, the title is both misleading and incorrect.

Already found Planet X anyway Its called Eris... formerly Xena and its bigger than Pluto and has a moon.. And there are several others out there as well

Good point... what a way to welcome someone huh?

Well now lets have another look at this shall we? If Planet X means Planet 10... then as I just posted we are already way past 10. Eris is larger than Pluto and was the main reason Pluto was dropped down to a Dwarf Planet... If you include Ceres (in the asteroid belt... Nibiru would now be Planet XVIII or Planet 18...

So back to the Japanese...

Exhibit A)

From Xfacts
From Jason Martell:

I contacted Dr. Mukai to ask about the size of Planet X he was projecting. He was kind enough to share this information below.

********
Dear Jason Martell-san,

Thank you for sending me information.
(Answer from Mukai) Its diameter is expected as 10,000-16,000km (roughly the same as the size of earth). Other details for Planet X is shown in the web site at www.org.kobe-u.ac.jp... Unfortunately, most of the news in Japanese, but you can get more from PDF file in item 1).

Best regards. Tadashi Mukai

xfacts.com...

Okay so there you have it from the horses mouth... D

Exhibit B
Planet Patryk

Exhibit C
The orbit...

Exhibit D
The Japanese original website from Kobe University (translation required)
Press Release 2008/03/25 16:20

www.org.kobe-u.ac.jp...

Exhibit E
80 page report Accepted to The Astronomical Journal – 11/Dec/2007

harbor.scitec.kobe-u.ac.jp...

So this so far is one of the best finds I have seen in a long time on "Planet X"

So lets have a star and flag for the newbie who beat me to it

Great find, if the supposed orbit is accurate, then this could very well be the famed Nibiru. Zorgon, given the information you've shown, could you estimate the orbit length? I wouldn't have a clue were to start and I'm not sure how accurate the diagrams are

One more thing, have they managed to see this yet? photographed it? The artist's rendition makes it look barren and lifeless, a common trait these days in photo's of other planets

thanks. EMM

How can it be Sitchin's fictional planet when it's a different size and has an orbit that brings it nowhere near Neptune let alone the inner system?

One more thing, have they managed to see this yet? photographed it?

No. It's a hypothetical planet. No-one knows whether or not it really exists.

The artist's rendition makes it look barren and lifeless, a common trait these days in photo's of other planets

Well what would you expect of a planet which is so far from the Sun it's in perpetual night? At it's closest projected point to the Sun it's still twice as far away as Neptune is.

No I haven't taken time yet to look at this discovery closely yet... BUT the orbit they show does NOT bring it close to Earth to wipe us out

No so far its calculations only... though they seem pretty sure... but it will give them a place to look...

Eris was found like this...

Despite what many people say about amateur astronomers should be able to see these things... its not as easy as just looking... you need hours of observation and watch for something in the photos to move... and this photo ability is something very few amateurs can do...

The artist's rendition makes it look barren and lifeless, a common trait these days in photo's of other planets

But no, my friend that is not so....
