Paul Martin's future as prime minister of Canada appears a little bleak nowadays, no? Martin sure has alot of excuses, and Chretien is sitting back waiting for the "appropriate time" to say what he knows, apparently nothing. It will be interesting to see how Martin and the Liberal Party conive their way out of this one...

"Former prime minister Jean Chretien is prepared to testify before a public inquiry into the $250-million sponsorship scandal to prove he was unaware of any criminal wrongdoing, say his closest advisers.

The advisers, who refuse to be named, also told CanWest News Monday Chretien will turn the cheek and not engage in a Liberal civil war with Prime Minister Paul Martin over the Quebec sponsorship fiasco to save the party from being plunged into a minority government or even defeat in the upcoming general election."
