Russia threatens nuclear attack on Ukraine

Russia has threatened to target the Ukraine with nuclear warheads if the former Soviet republic joins Nato and accepts the deployment of United States anti-missile defences on its territory.

President Vladimir Putin of Russia warned Ukraine's leader Viktor Yushchenko of "retaliatory actions" should his country join the Western alliance during a joint press conference in Moscow.

"It's frightening not just to talk about this, but even to think about, that in response to such deployment, the possibility of such deployments - and one can't theoretically exclude these deployments - that Russia will have to point its warheads at Ukrainian territory," he said.

The Russian and Ukrainian leaders had just held emergency talks in the Kremlin to avert a energy supply crisis over Kiev gas bill - a similar dispute two years ago led to power cuts across Europe.

This russian powerplay thing seems to be a recurring them recently. They are definately starting to stir after a longish period of relative silence. I have a few questions about this.
1. Are we ATSers looking for something that isnt there?
2. Is Russia really trying to become a new and improved superpower?
3. Are they just keeping other super power wannabes in check?
4. Has Russia finally had the jack of the US and New American Terror Organisation (NATO) and not so subtly telling them to pull thier heads in?
5. Based on the theory of Barking dogs never bite, should we be more worried by the apparent silence of an equally or more powerful entity IE: China

You need to stop this, this is a bluff, all ukrainians know that, ukraine will never join NATO, that's fact, people will not let this happen, so a Nuclear warning is a joke, Ukraine is possible of creating their own nuclear weapons superior to anyone except Russia .

Say what now, Ukraine can build nukes better then everyone but Russia? Presuming then that Russia has the best Nukes? I will fully admit if I am mistaken but this just cannot be can it?
