This song makes me want to go out and buy a new car.

I wasn't familiar with this song when it showed up on TV recently and I actually thought it must be a lost Beatle recording.

I talked to others who thought the same.

This post is to clarify that issue and give credit where credit is due.

ELO's front man, Jeff Lynne, was later in Traveling Wilburys.

Thank you DrLove, that is one good song....(the first one). Brings back some great memories, plus, shows my age....

ELO never sounded like the Beatles to me, but then again, I was brought up with a mother as a Beatles fan and a father who loved ELO...

I just brought elo up the other day in a post on bts, about 80's movies, and how ELO was the sound track for the movie Xanadu (which I personally love).

I never thought that ELO sounded like the Beatles, either, and frankly, even though I know the name, ELO just isn't on my radar screen as a band I followed during those years.

It's really the Honda commercial that brought to mind the Beatles, especially since I don't remember the song from when it was a hit.

It does seem strange that ELO is such a black hole for me, but the period of their popularity was a very tumultuous time for me and my interest in popular music was waning in favor of classical and country.

I went to an ELO show in 1977. We sat in about the eighth row. We weren't in the center, but off to the side in front of an enormous wall of speakers. All I remember is they were way too loud. They damaged my hearing.

A couple years later, a double bill of George Thorogood and The Destroyers, and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes finished the job.

Now I say what or pardon about fifty times a day.

ELO
Sparks
Kinks
The Who

and a few good newer bands and I'd be set!

Awesome songs there! Although its a bit crappy that they dubbed the studio recording over the live performance, looks like a super cool performance!

ELO are such an incredible band, I only recently started listening to them after rediscovering a greatest hits CD I had lying around. Nothing like the Beatles except for the pop sensibilities. I love the symphony orchestras! Super cool!

Thanks Grady!

Btw, I can see that the video is actually still there (by clicking the YouTube link), but the video owner apparently disabled embedding after I posted it. It happens.
