Pilot stabbed, bomb threat at Chch airport

The flight was Air New Zealand NZ2279 from Blenheim to Christchurch, Radio New Zealand reported.

The stabbed pilot was able to walk off the plane, but was rushed to hospital.

Police surrounded the aircraft on the runway, and the woman has been arrested.

The bomb squad has been called in to defuse a device, thought to have been in the woman's bag

Not sure whats going on here, updates are still sketchy.

Just really WOW, Chc is normally pretty sedate on the world stage. At the moment our biggest problems are boy racers and teens in the Central Business District.

Will be interesting to see who the woman is and what caused her to do this...

*Update*...latest in stuff.co.nz says several passengers have been transported to the hospital...condition unknown...

Was just watching Sunrise.

The bomb squads are searching the plane now.

I hope it is just an idle threat.

Another Update...nothing yet on the offending passenger mental stae or what led up this....

None of the airlines at Blenheim Airport require hand luggage to be security scanned."

so small internal NZ flights are not screened?...I have a feeling that might be changing.
