Tutorial: Create an ATS Avatar - by Im A Marty

How can I just select the black part of the ATS logo? I'm not getting that part. I notice your logo is a psd file and the picture you posted is jpg. Can you give us the psd file?

I would post the PSD file - yet I have nowhere to store it - photobucket only allows storing of web image files.

However you can select the black many ways.

Method 1) Select the Magic Tool Wand - then at the top (Version CS2 and CS3) Select the tolerance to 32. Simply click on the Black. Press CTRL+C and then go to your image and press CTRL+V

Method 2) Go to "Select -> Color Range". Set Fuzziness to 100 or there abouts. Now whilst still being able to view the image whilst in the actual color range box - click on the 'black' part of the logo with the eyedropper. Click OK - and this will select all black in the picture. Again click CTRL+C and then go to your image and press CTRL+V.

Hope that helps. If anyone knows a good online storage website - free, for small files, please let me know so I can upload the PSD.

ATS-BTS-PTS Logo in PSD (Photoshop) Format

Its layered - delete first layer (gives instructions on how to use). Hope its OK

For those that are looking for a cheap alternative to Adobe Photoshop, try Adobe Elements. I believe Adobe made a mistake when they came out with it. It has practically all the functionality of Photoshop, all for about $100. I'm still using version 2, but I think they are currently at version 5.

Hey there WingNutEE, I heard of Elements but never knew what it was, So I got out my "Better Photoshop Techniques" magazine that I got today, and found an elements page. There is a LOT that can be done with Elements and not Photoshop, however the other way round is also true.

Ok I scanned the Adobe site some more and found out that they neatly categorise the software based on what you prefer to do...

Here is a few pics I made from scanning a comparison of Elements v6 and Photoshop CS3.

I haven't gone over it too much, but I have learned that all Adobe programs benefits one or the other in what you specialise in.

Reading some knowledgeable Adobers, they all state that each program can more or less re-create what the other one does, some are just one click automatic creation, where the other may take 15 or so different techniques to get the same effect.

Uhuh, I have actually just bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and it's pretty sweet
Then again, I know nothing about all of this photo editing and such so I really wouldn't know haha

YEAH! I am glad I found this thread..and how I did I have no idea! I havent used photoshop in a while so I will need a refresher course Thanks Marty....I wont have a new laptop until next month or Xmas but this will help!!
