Archivist's Notes: Good quality scans, few blackouts, handrawn images, newspaper clippings partially readable.Report includes hand drawn image of ufo as well as newspapers reports from Twin Falls Times newspaper. Additional unnamed witnesses in newspaper article state seeing two objects between 4,000 to 6,000 feet "roar" by but were no further information was included in the report on that sighting. All witnesses were described as being sincere. Official opinion the UFO in concurrence with Dr. Hynek, was that it was a rapidly travelling atmospheric eddy

Interesting document in fact The relatively near position of the object from the observers and the classic disc shaped make this sighting a typical UFO from the era of flaps and waves. Let's not forget is right after Kenneth Arnold and Roswell so the concept of disc shaped objects was fairly new. Another interesting point is the classification as atmospheric eddy by Dr. A. Hynek (for whom I have a great respect but never fully understood his real opinion about UFO-s. His famous swamp gas expression pounds my mind while I read Hudson Valley or other materials and makes me think if he was trying to be careful in order to survive in that environment or was just being an conjectural thinker.) Anyway back to the topic.

This sighting involves one disc shaped object witnessed by a farmer and his son on August 13 1947 in Twin Falls Idaho. Referring to the witnesses at 13.00 o' clock they saw a bright ufo, sky blue in color which emitted a swishing sound . The distance from it was 300 feet and the disc had a size of 20 feet and a thickness of 10 feet. By the observers the object has been described as oblong broad rimmed hat with low crown/inverted pie plate. They also reported exhaust trail - a red tubular fiery glow at the side of the top. The sighting occurred in Smoke River Canyon and at that moment the object was 75 feet from the canyon floor roadding up and down over hills and hollows of canyon.

There is another interesting point in this sighting. According to the farmer's son while the object was flying above the trees didn't make those bend with the wind as usually hapens when planes fly by low but it made those spoon around on top as if they were in a vacuum. After that the object took of with a speed at approximately 1000 mph.

In the document as the OP said there are schematics and handrawn images. Didn't see any part where it could have been mentioned how long did the sighting last for.

This sighting is documented also by NICAP. It's not as detailed as in this document but is important that somebody took the time to record what witnesses had to say.

Aug. 13, 1947; Snake River (9 miles NW of Twin Falls), Idaho (BBU)
1:00 p.m. Snake River 6 miles W of Blue Lake Ranch, 9 miles NW of Twin Falls, Idaho. A. C. Urie on land and 2 sons Billy and Keith 300 ft away in a boat, all on the S side of the river or river bank looking to the N, saw a squeezed or elongated straw-hat shaped sky-blue object about 10 x 10 x 20 feet, with pods on the side emitting flames, about 1/2 mile away fly towards them down the canyon at 1,000 mph E-W at 75 ft height, with a contour following motion up and down over uneven terrain, trees swaying underneath with a circular motion, disappearing with a swish sound. Urie was about 300 ft from the object which was about level with him about 75 ft above the river, and silhouetted against the canyon wall 1,200 ft away, disappearing behind a hill about 1 mile away. Object was at about 45° elevation to the boys on the river below him, disappearing behind trees. 5-secs? (Battelle Unknown No. 9)

We saw a red UFO today in Nampa, ID. It looked like a small airplane, but it was pointing up and hovering around 10000 feet. Saw it for approximately 15 minutes. Did anyone else see it?
