But I asked all over and still nothing....they don't know why.

Okay here it goes, some times my curser when I try and click something wont click! Like when I try and click the scroll bar it won't scroll.

Other times when I click Text areas or a link It is like I dubble clicked it because in the text area when I clicked it only once it highlights the last word in the paragraph. and some times I get two windows when I click a link (Not ads I let them load to make sure and it is the same site.)

So what is going on? Also the other day I got a prompt saying that I don't have alot of Vrutural Memory left! So Please maybe you can help because the other people don't really have a clue....

Well the Virtual Memory message is simple... You have ran out of Virtual Memory, lol.

Virtual Memory [If you don't know] in Windows (Also called Page File, and Swap Space in other OS's) is space on your hard disk drive Windows uses as 'memory' after you have used up all of your pysical memory.

So either stick some more memory into your computer, or change the virtual memory settings to use more space - Windows normally deals with this by default, it usually uses about 1.5x your pysical memory.

Only mess with these settings if you know what you're doing - to change these I believe you go to control panel, system. I am not too sure, as I don't use Windows much at all these days.

Or, if you are certain you have enough memory, and Windows is throwing the errors even when you are still within your pysical memory limit... Then maybe you are experiencing what's called a memory leak - basically this happens when you have faulty memory sticks, or an error on the motherboard - this is the main cause anyway.

Now about the cursor problem, I don't have any idea what that could be. Has it always been like it, or has it only just happened? What Web Browser are you using? I will have a look around for you, see what I can find.

It just started happening...accualy more like it started back in the beguining of December. Thats when for some reason after I got this blue screen (Saying that it was dumping Psyical Memory) I turned the computer back on, It didn't load past the Task bar and a few Icons on it.

Well anyway it was late, I wasn't going to put it in to safemode so I just shut it off cold. Well anyway, the next morning I turned it on, When I tried to put it in to safemode it gave me another blue screen, this one saying that I should turn off my computer if I have never gotten this stop screen before then check for viruses. So I turned it off cold again, let it boot up normaly.

And to my Surprise this chkdsk came up! It started to delete AVI and JS files from my computer. After that was done My computer booted up fine.

But then this mouse thing started to happen. I have even been cleaning out un-needed Documents to see if that helps. that helps for a few and then it happens again! I have even turned off my screen saver to save memory. but I doubt that helped it.

And before all this in November, I found out that my dreamweaver and My Cute FTP were downloaded were illegal downloads so I had to delete them....And again in december, we had this really bad wind storm, it created a power surge. well when my computer turned back on because of the surge bar it didn't load, all it did was load the task bar and some Icons on it. so that was the first time I had to put it in to safe mode and then reboot it from there...before this happend I had to put it in to safe mode like every day until that chkdsk thing came about.

And I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when I defrag my disk, on the over view, when it says that it is done....there is a little red line. I don't know why it is there, it's just there! and it moves depending on when I defrag. this started to happen after the chkdsk too.

And I'm running Windows 2k, and I have heard that that verson has a ton of erorrs in it. And my browser is IE 6....So I don't think it is the browser...because it happens when I'm not using it too...like when I'm in paint or when I click an icon. So I don't know what is going on...I looked all over the web and nothing!

And I could never clean out my cookies since the guy hooked up this thing 2002....because my diskclean up won't load. And I think that since the guy programed it with copies of programs, I think he downloaded a worm or something...because even before this all happend it was glitching up!

Sounds like your arn't having a very nice computer experience at all, lol - all those problems.

Right, where to start...

Scandisk deleted JS and AVI files from your computer? Thats odd... Perhaps they were corrupt.
The BSOD (blue screen of death) tells me that yes, a memory leak may of caused them.

Just because your copies were illegal doesn't mean they may of had worms, trojans or viruses in them (I'm not saying it's good to use illegal software, lol), so you could of just ran an up-to-date virus checker over the installed files, and the original source disk/files (if you have it/them).

If the power surge effected anything, you would know - the computer wouldn't boot up at all. Maybe it may of harmed the hard disk drive, but even if it did, I don't think Windows would of loaded at all.

I don't know what you mean about the defrag red line, on the normal view of the defrag, you will get red lines... These say what files are what (there is a key at the top) - but I am assuming your refering to a different red line, so I don't know that one, sorry.

Well Windows 2000 should not be that buggy (well it is, all windows are, lol. But I mean not *that* buggy). If you have installed all the SPs and all major updates, you should be OK.

The mouse thing is weird - By any chance is it an infrared mouse (optical) or a cordless mouse? As I have heard of a lot of problems with those sort of mice. If it is a cordless mouse, check the batteries - change them if needed. Maybe try 're-installing' the mouse. (remove it from device manager, restart computer - then install it again).

The cookies thing is weird, you can delete them through IE6 anyway, or manually. If that person did acidently download a worm onto your computer, run a virus check with an up-to-date checker. To avoid things like this in future, make sure everybody who does something (software wise) to your computer, tell you what they are doing, and make them to a virus check afterwards - this is what I do with my clients, and it has saved me a lot of troubleshooting, lol.

So after all that... Conclusions... Some people may disagree, but I think you should consider doing a re-install of Windows 2000 (and all the SPs/updates, etc) - A clean install mind. You seem to have a lot of problems, and it may take an awful while to get them all sorted - if ever. That may not even work, which is worrying.

Best thing to do is this... Do you have a local 'guru' who could actually come round and look at the computer? And I mean a friend, so you don't have to pay, lol. See if they can help you out, as it is much easier solving problems when you are there in person, and not over the Internet, lol.
You could also try taking it to a local computer store, see if they could check it out - they may charge mind, and it probably won't be cheap.

If I think of anything, I'll post again.

No....my mouse came with the computer. and it isn't cordless...

And the red line is on the bottom window on defrag...not the analizeing line....that red line didn't show up until after this stuff started to happen.

I don't have a copy of Windows 2k...I told you...the guy used copies from another computer...and he took all the copies...

I have an up to date virus scan. my Norton updates atleast every day or so...I know there are better ones out there but I can't download anything new. and the Norton came with my computer....

And besides this computer is on loan from the online school I attend...so I'm the only one who uses it. And I can't go and take it to the Computer shop, because the school doesn't want anyone to mess with the computer...their only option is to take this computer back and get a new one...but that's a last resort.

And the only person I know that was farly well at computer, I haven't seen in a few years....

Then the best bet is to go back and get a new one.
Either that or get hold of a copy of another version of Windows (XP maybe) and install that - clean install. You could go for a Unix flavour (Linux, BSD, etc), but I'm guessing you wouldn't go for that.

Sorry I can't be of much help.
