Can anyone tell me what this is at the location:
13°53'8.71"N
20°45'13.40"E

Here is the picture:

Is it a village that blew up from attacks? Or could it be something else?

I'm only guessing - is that in Iraq?

Have you tried to locate a town using the coordinates? I will try to do so and let you know if I have any luck.

The satellite image is positioned in eastern Chad. I'm guessing it could be a devastated village due to the violence between the rebels and the government there. But I could be wrong.

I'm on dial-up (but only till next week HURRAH HURRAH) and so the pages are long to load. :shk:

But look at the surrounding area in a more zoomed-out resolution. Then pick one of the many similar looking sites nearby and then zoom in as close as you did on this one.

I'm suspecting but not certain...that these are probably rocky outcroppings which stand above the land due to exposure and being of a different composition of that which has all around turned to beige sand and mostly blown away.

I'm waiting to zoom in. If you have a better connection, try that and tell us what comes of it.

From what I can tell, searching about geological formation in Chad...it is most likely what I thought - perhaps from long-ago periods in which there was sea in that area. But I have to take my little dog to the vet in a bit and so I'll have to continue looking into this later.

There are "more" to the east and south. My thoughts are a village with walls around the "homes" huts.

There is a modern city to the east, use that as scale on resolution and then compare what you have in a city with this 'village'.

Just my opinion....

this site is just north east of Mandafana Chad in Africa it appears to be an existing village. The grass type huts can be seen still standing

To me it is a village with mud-made houses and little places made of fence aroun for the cattle, as it is usual in Africa.

But it could also be an old village which is now abondoned.
