AI, what is your take?

Just came across this. If you go through the process of "personalizing your own", you will see the tasks it can perform, and you can make it look how you want (sorta). Says it will be up for public sale in July. What do you think about it. I think it is kinda scary personally.

I've seen this before, does anyone know if this is real?

It is for the movie I, Robot.

It is based on an Asimov novel.

It comes out this summer, stars Will Smith and I sure hope it isn't terrible.

The "3 Laws Safe" thing, is a reference to this

--The 1940 Laws of Robotics
First Law:
A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law:
A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law:
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.--
I would imagine that the "theme" of the movie is going to revolve around those laws.

Well Milk, I think your discussion mates have pretty well nailed this
one down. Like Netstorm. I am a fan of the original "I, Robot" series
by the great Isaic Asimov and I do hope the movie does it justice and
not trash it like they did with Heinlein's Starship Troopers.

the concept seems pretty cool.what do you want it to do?be a servant or a companion.either way you are going to want it to have a capacity for creative thinking in order to navigate around the human condition.this involves abstract thought.how can a robot through logical responses and the 3 laws of robotics serve or protect a race as self destructive as the human race.

This has been done....see Bicentennial Man...

Creating an automaton does not mean you are creating an AI. AI is based upon the quality of sentience, adn with sentience comes self awareness.

Self awareness can and probably would ovverride the Three Laws.
