McCain wins key Florida primary!

news.bbc.co.uk

John McCain has beaten Mitt Romney by a slim margin in Florida, a key battle for Republicans seeking to run for president in November.

Only two-thirds of the vote has been counted but Mr Romney has conceded.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani - who has staked his bid for the party nomination on Florida - was trailing in third and Mike Huckabee fourth.

Hillary Clinton claimed victory in the Democratic vote, although it is a largely symbolic contest.

I don't understand why people vote for McCain even after disowning Bush so much. McCain is practically standing right next to him on a lot of issues, although some basic ones are opposing.

Here is an article from the Washington Pose illustrating some of McCain's relativity with George Bush.

Once this choice was made, everything else fell into place. McCain joined the Bush crowd. He gave a powerful speech endorsing the president at last year's Republican National Convention in New York. The address was perfect for both McCain and Bush. Unlike the speeches bashing Kerry and the Democrats by Zell Miller, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rudy Giuliani, McCain's stuck to policy and praised Bush for his decision to go to war in Iraq.

McCain -- who is close to the party's neoconservative wing -- has been steadfast in defending the president's decision to go to war, despite doubts about prewar planning and mistakes early in the occupation.

I have a sickening, nauseating feeling, deep down in my stomach that McInsane may well be sworn in as the next president. He is the military industrial complex's, and the major corporation's wet dream come true. A total war monger, beating his drums loudly. They will see to it that he wins IMHO.

And we the people will go from really bad, to the worst of the worst.

Sigh...

It actually makes me wonder whether or not Jeb Bush is backing him.

From the quoted material in the OP:

"Hillary Clinton claimed victory in the Democratic vote, although it is a largely symbolic contest."

Is the BBC saying that the Democrats are considered as a joke? Quite the interesting insight into the outside world's view of our "democratic process"

Really?

I do, and it's sad. Very sad.

This election is going to come down to Socialism vs. Authoritarianism.

We're screwed, and we deserve it.

I've always believed --- I mean really believed --- that the Bush era was the dark ages for the United States and that we are now at the apex of turning the corner into a better country. Seeing the support that McCain is getting I'm beginning to believe that Bush et al are, in fact, just the precursor.

'Bomb, bomb, bomb... bomb, bomb Iran'? Someone can actually say that... on camera... and people still vote for him? Holy God we are screwed. Forget the way he shafted all the POW's and the fact that he is an economic imbecile, the guy is unstable.

Another war, or even continuing the ones Bush started, is going to bankrupt this country. McCain will absolutely see that this happens. Put the pipes down people. This is serious. This is deadly serious.
