Mel's hole

So after spending a couple hours entertaining myself with satellite photos of BFE, Australia and well I guess really just entertaining myself I found a link to this from the Pine Gap epic.
Anyway back on topic, I've never heard of the hole before. I've hiked all over north of there up Sasse Mountain, hex mountain, and up into the alpine lakes wilderness. Funny thing though this thread brought to mind something I thought was BS at the time (still kind of think it is) but I was unloading a semi, or at least standing around with the driver talking. After we talked guns, and trucking, he was all gung-ho telling me that you can make a ton of money doing high risk DOD trucking stuff and to contact these people in a certain way, you'll get a call back if you check out and another number to call blah blah blah.
He then goes on to elaborate on his brother in the navy and his submarine career and then starts telling me about this 61 MILE LONG cave a few miles offshore (I'm assuming where north america drops into the pacific) and how it was big enough to actually get a US Navy sub all the way under the Olympic peninsula. He didn't say whether it was an attack sub or a boomer, but I think that arguement would be a moot point lol.
Anyway more fuel for the fire. Probably BS but hey.

I heard all of Mel's Visits on C2C. I admit the first time I heard him, the story seemed believable. Mel came across as a regular sincere guy who just wanted to know how deep his hole was and if it could make it in the Guinness book of records. However his story gets sketchy on the next appearance w/ Art Bell. The Government takes over his land and he is not allowed on it. Then is supposedly given several large payments so they may "lease" the land. Mel takes off to Australia to start a "Wombat" rescue program. By his accounts, his is a millionaire now. However, on return to the U.S his apparently abducted by police, and wakes up a week later missing teeth and his belt buckle. now the story gets good. The belt buckle is made up of some coins and one being a dime minted after some president died but still has his face on it. These "mysterious" coins were found on his old property in a red Chinese new year envelope. Now at this point in the story, he has yet to disclose the location of the hole, a picture of the dimes, any witness's who actually saw the hole even though many people apparently know about it. ( a local legend in his parts). Then mel finds another "magic" hole when he hooks up w/ some natives. This new hole is even stranger. it produces 'burning" ice, a sheep is lowered down it and when it is brought up it has a living baby seal inside it w/ human eyes that cures mels cancer. At this point you are listening to Mel's story because you are amazed at how far fetched it is and how many people are buying his Bull#. There are no records that a ""mel waters" exisits, there is no evidence, pictures or eye witness accounts of either hole nor of his freaky conspiracy coins. its obvious why you cannot see his property on google earth, that land is a military base. Mel Just sold Art bell and all his viewers several Acres of Good Florida Swamp land...and no one seems to want their money back. I Guess we all like a good story, even when its as incredible as Mels.

Mel was only interviewed by Art Bell twice, I listened to both shows live, they were I have to admit some of the most entertaining shows I ever heard, and I've been listening to Art Bell since 1990.

I have to say Mel was a great storyteller, but I also saw the story on TV show a few years after hearing the story on c2cam, a camera crew went to the town, looked for the hole asked locals and nobody knew what they were talking about, I can't remember if they found what they thought was the land, but I think the hole was supposedly covered over with concrete.

Yes, the government could have paid Mel all that money, yes the locals could've been lying, but I don't think so. 15 miles of fishing wire??? come on..... Mel said he put fruit loops I believe at the end of the fishing line to see if there was any water in there and claims they weren't melted. I just have a hard time believing 15 miles of fishing line wouldn't break by it's own weight.

I still don't buy it to this day but sometimes I tell friends about the story, Mel claimed to find a german nazi luger pistol that when fired made no sound, he made up bizzare stuff like that, stuff that made no sense, and of course none of his evidence has ever seen the light of day including the hole and any artifacts associated with it.

Just wondering, has anyone tried blasting a spotlight down, or even dropping a flare?

That should be the first thing anyone does.

Sure..if there actually was a hole, the only hole you are going to find are the Holes in Mel Waters incredible story and no amount of light will make it believable.

The case about Mel´s hole have been silent for a year now.. just wondering if anyone have heard any news about it? I read about some students that went looking for it, but they never reported back.. that was in mid 2009

I love the two Art Bell interviews with Mell! The last I have heard was that Art received a fax from mell saying that `someone` had offered him a lease on his property with monthly payments to Mell and that included in the agreement mell was never discuss anything else concerning who made this deal and never reveal the location of the hole ect. Some trumped up federal charges against him were also to be dropped.
