Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has called on other Latin American and Caribbean countries to form a military alliance against the United States.

"If the US threatens one of us, it threatens all of us," he said, "we will respond as one."

I think it would be better for Chavez to form an Anti-Multi-National alliance that stops heavy foreign capital penetration and market domination.

Although, seeing as the US is the foremost proponent of such policies, I guess this alliance cant hurt. But to be honest, I see this as more Anti-US rhetoric for the world stage, rather than an actual move for social and national strengthenings.

I'm not a big fan of the whole USA big boy image but i'd rather have them as an ally than an enemy, countries should keep quiet and only respond when spoken to.
I know what they mean when they say if you threaten 1 country your threatening all because if any country attacked europe (i'm from the U.K) i would expect the rest to stand up and stand together.

Wow thats a little draconian of you. Every nation has a voice and the right to express their opinions. Being an ally of the US in central and south america is a lot different than being an ally of the US in Europe of north america. US administrations have a history of brutal oppression exploitation, expropriation, and derassination in many parts of the world including South America, why then, would being an ally seem like an option when all that the US (read: US administrations) has done for South America is crush social revolutions, slaughter innocents, and destroy their economies? The US (read: Leaders) are not looking out for whats best for the people of south america and never will.

Well its pretty clear that around the world a silent anti US alliance is building with each day.

Everything comes around, what USA did in Iraq will ultimately end up in USA.
