George Bush signed January 8, secret order authorizing the special services the United States to tighten control over the computer network used by the American government, and enhance the monitoring of information coming into the network from the Internet, said on Saturday newspaper "Washington Post".

From the article, I perceived no indication that the government wants to "tighten control over the internet. While they do mention that the DHS wants to reduce internet portals across the government from 2,000 to 50, to better identify sources of attacks from the internet.

We will make it look like we are limiting access for the government so we can sell these fools into some new technonlogy which requires a special government issued permit for the masses to access it. Like scanning the "National ID"

54, I think you are correct .... a star for you
I think this is more just military network control as well
as access points to control hacks into the system.
With only 50 portals it greatly diminishes any unwelcome
backdoor drop-ins. But it still doesn't keep them out.
All they need is 1 portal for access.
