It makes me feel ancient to realize there're posters who've never used a film camera and have never had a chance to discover their characteristics.
These 'anomalies' are just dirt and scratches on the negatives, which all film images are prone to. In fact, a large part of 'traditional'
darkroom work is retouching images to mask just these flaws.
These were shot on Kodachrome sheet film (the notch code on the right side is a giveaway), at a guess in the 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 format. That's in inches.
Kodachrome was introduced in 1935 but was far from the first color system; Autochrome (1907) was probably the first practical means of outdoor color
photography.
