Alight so my fiance is a subscriber of Guitar World Magazine and in this months issue was an interview of Dime's long time girlfriend Rita Haney.

I am sorry, I respect the fact that she lost someone so dear to her in such a tragic manner and we all know how great of a player he was, however I am really tired of her continuously blaming Phil Anselmo for Dime's death.

I think everyone is aware of Phil's rampant case of lead singers disease, his drug addictions and all the stupid things he has said out of a drug induced haze or out of anger, but I still think it is wrong for her to blame him for Dime's death. She said that Phil never understood what Dime went through, and I believe that is probably true, however it seems to me that maybe she isn't understanding all that Phil went through when he was having back problems and facing a year out of work. I don't know, just my two cents.

What do you all think?

I loved Pantera(except reinventing the steel).
They used to amp me up as a young teen but for some reason i never liked Phil either.I could never explain why maybe it was some talk a few years ago of him being racist?I don't remember but he comes across sometimes as an arrogant toss.

There is no question that Phil is arrogant, every Pantera fan knows that, especially back in those days. I have heard rumors that he was racist too and that he was even a skinhead but if you listen to the songs "Rise" and "No Good" he is actually speaking out against racism and prejudice.

Anyways, the point is, arrogant or not, he is not responsible for Dimes death.

Yea saying he is responsible for dimebags death is just stupid. Those were good songs with good messages.
I had a look on you tube after posting yesterday and he does do a bit of a racist rant in the mid 90s.He trys to justify it at the beginning but still kinda puts his foot in his mouth

Pantera were, hands down, one of the greatest bands ever. The extra "snap" of the drums and that chainsaw guitar tone is sickeningly awesome! To say Phil is responsible for Dime's death is utterly rediculous. If she truely loved Dime, she would let it go and not point fingers at who is to blame. He's gone but never forgotten, let the guy rest.

I was not a Pantera fan, but I do appreciate the sense of loss they must feel at having their hero struck down in his prime by a senseless tragedy. I understand the need for Rita to want to assign blame. I feel the only blame you can assign is to the criminal who actually committed the crime. Hopefully Rita and others will heal in time and realize they are only hurting themselves by fostering hatred for Phil. I am sure that Dime looks down on ALL of us with love and understanding.
