Now U2U see it, now U2U don't...

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but...


This week my U2U button has been playing hide and seek. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't.

Is anyone else experiencing this (is everyone else)?

Is there a simple explanation and, if so, can someone furnish it? Please.

It will pop up when you have new unread U2U's, otherwise you would get to your inbox through the MemCenter button and selecting the private messages button on that page.

Aha, thanks. A very simple explanation.

I'm ever-so-slightly kinda lazy and it just seemed so much less effort when the thing was permanently in my toolbar. Oh, well, progress, it seems.

Got to keep up with that modern, new-fangled thinking...

I have no problem with my u2u's, but there is a problem with both the "reply" and "quote" buttons - somtimes they just don't work.

Yes - I got the same problem. I can't reply to U2U nor send a message. Is anyone else having this problem?

Are you getting a "Flood Control" message? Or it just doesn't work at all?

It could be a popup blocker you are using or firewall issue, I seem to remember that I had an issue uploading pics before and it was attributed to some security software deal.

Just tossin out some ideas.

I think the u2u's are fine - just a misunderstanding over the button function (it lights up only when you have a u2u)

The reply and quote function doesn't always work - at least not for me.

I'd say it works about 75% of the time.

It's not the end of the world, but it can be a little annoying - especially in a long thread.

LOL - tried to reply to jack..... about it, and it didn't work - all my settings on firewall and firefox are fine.

The reply and quote used to work all the time - it'sjust the last few weeks.
And no, I haven't updated browser or firewall in that time

I just signed in with my partners account and the U2U works there.
BTW the 'reply to' function does not work either... strange

Are the administrators being indulgent of my laziness and giving me personalised settings, or is everybody's U2U button now permanently present?

Each time I come on, there it is, even although no-one's written to me recently...

I wasn't necessarily complaining when I first started this...

I have noticed that when my box is waaaaay over the limit (50) then my indicator and everything else about it starts acting up. When I start deleting messages and get below 50....everything seems to be fine

Delete or save u2u's in your inbox and it should go away

I can explain why your quote and reply function sometimes don't work.

It's in the url. Sometimes it has an apostrophe attached at the end, i.e. instead of looking like ....forum/thread329247/pg1 ..this, it will look like .....forum/thread329247/pg1' ..this. Just delete the apostrophe, nobody knows why it is there or what it does, just delete it and everything works fine.

Okay, so there's a thread about SecDef McNamara and the Falcon (Ford, not General Dynamics). Actually, it isn't about the Falcon at all, but that's not the point.

The first post was May 21, 2006.
That was followed on June 5.
Then Dave Rabbit jumped aboard on June 11.
Then there was a seventeen month wait until Novemeber 17, 2007.
Then I got a hold of it a couple of weeks later on December 6.

Since then no-one else has posted, but the thread keeps periodically jumping to the top of my subscribed threads list.

Anybody else having this experience with an unflagged thread? Or any thread?
