The Real Alien Coverup Culprit.

I have been doing some real open minded thinking lately.

One has to step outside the box and instead of saying to oneself what does one entity or governmental organization have to GAIN by keeping the discovery of Alien life secret, and instead begin to think what do they stand to LOOSE or who stands to lose.

And who would lose EVERYTHING?

Who would LOSE EVERYTHING and have no ability to even maintain the smallest amount of control of what they have worked for?

Who has the most power over people?


ANSWER:

Religion and the "Church"

At the top of that list... the POPE and the whole of Christianity followed closely by the Muslim faith.

WHY?

The mere proof of the existence of Aliens would render void the whole of religion, man was made in god's image.....yet these sentient beings are not in man's image so there cant be one benevolent God, one creator of the heavens the cosmos and the Earth.

And the Church's have the governments of the world scared to death....as without Religion "most" (pay attention...most people in this world are religious to some extent) people would loose their faith....and a society without faith is a society that has no future. All societies have existed with some sort of faith.

The Churches of both Christianity, and Muslim (They are the largest...I in no way am excluding Buddhism heck even Scientology etc..) faith have existed far longer than any current government of earth....their powers run very deep.


What IS interesting is if you look at the old dead religions....the Mayan and such... they would and DO acknowledge higher celestial beings....maybe they knew something we don't and has since long been forgotten.

I actually don't think the Church (or any religion for that matter) has that much to lose. Almost every religion has some form of higher entity, be it celestial or infernal in nature, and Aliens could easily be passed off as these, making their position in fact stronger. In fact if I remember correctly the Vatican has people that are actively looking into the matter. There's one person in particular that I'm thinking about, but his name is eluding me.

The way I see it, political leaders have the most to lose. Any way the existence of Aliens is spun it will pretty much force humanity as a whole to reconsider their position in the universe, which then will most likely lead to massive socio-political changes which will force most political leaders out of power.

I agree with Xcalibur254. It all boils down to control.

The rich and powerful would most likely lose their control of the planet should an advanced civilization with a superior way of life show up and make its presence known. Humanity as a whole would want to emulate the lifestyles of beings who have technical knowledge that surpasses ours. With that technical advancement most likely comes increased lifespans and better quality of life. Extraterrestrial goverments, should they even have them, are likely quite different. Those in control of this planet understand this and fear it. They would become dinosaurs practically overnight and go extinct like so many other governments that now only exist in history books.

This has happened on our own planet multiple times when primitive civilizations come into contact with more advanced ones. Although humanity has a tendency to affect change through violence, it doesn't always have to be so.
