Flight Information

Good Day,

I edited this post to better reflect what I am looking for.

I am looking for a website or program that can show me the weather radar information for January 17th 2008 in New Brunswick, Canada. The higher the resolution the better.

Secondly I am looking for a flight tracking program or website that can see what flights were over New Brunswick for January 17th 2008.

This is for personal research.

Your question for data regarding information on what airplane traffic is over specific areas has peaked my interest. I believe that this information could be interesting to many individuals for a variety of reasons. I can see such information being of particular interest to those doing research on UFOs.

I've done a bit of research but, as of yet, I can only find flight tracking information that is primarily suited to noting Arrivals and Departures from specific airlines and for specific airports.

Yeah thats no bad so long as you know what flights your looking for or the airports.

You see, a compilation of this data would actually be useful..i've found website that can show you every flight in north america at the moment you query. So, i would suggest that such information is logged.

In my hometown, we don't see much air traffic, as we are quite remote, but on the 17th of january the skies were very very very crowded with planes of all sorts. Most of which seemed to be passenger jets escorted by fighters.

This is very unusual, and i was looking for flight records, or even the lack there of. I have compiled some photographic evidence of these flights.

I had a thought that contrails in certain conditions can be observed on weather radar, and then thought, that there is a possibility that i could prove these flights happened by looking at weather radar.

I certainly "understood" what it was that you were looking for. And, I agree that having the ability to check on what aircraft were over a particular geographic location at specific times and dates would be incredibly useful.

For UFO researchers, having the knowledge of what aircraft were passing over an area where a sighting took place would be useful in either debunking or, possibly verifying (by elimination the possibility of an aircraft being in an area) an Unidentified Flying Object.

9/11 researchers might find some benefit in such an application or flight archive.

I'm sure that many more reasons could be found for this capability. I know that i'll keep looking. Still, Arrivals and Departure times, together with a map of aircraft traffic lanes could be used to extrapolate an aircrafts' position at any given time. Of course, this would mean dragging out charts and maps, the calculator and doing some calculations (frankly, way beyond my capabilities).

I would think that such information must be archived somewhere and that there might be an application to actually pinpoint aircraft flight paths at any given time and place. The trick is to find it -- that is if we would even have access to it at all.

Is there any site that has tracking for europe?

Well thank you very much guys, this is all very important for my research. I wasn't really looking for this information for UFO reasons, more for military training. i have a feeling that the airspace above my town is used for training exercises all the time.

This might sound too obvious but ... have you tried to simply call the local airbase? If it's training flights that you are concerned about, you might talk to the base "public relations officer". Quite often their job is to field complaints about things like training flights over residential areas. They might actually be relieved to learn that aren't complaining.


Years ago, when I still lived in Michigan, a friend of mine was able to get a good deal of access to Selfridge Air Base, information on flights, training and a tour simply by asking. He was doing a research paper for school and the base "public relations officer" literally bent over backwards to help. Of course, the Viet Nam war was on at the time and my friend was of enlistment age so there may have been ulterior motives. But, nonetheless, sometimes it helps just to ask.

Well thats actually quite a good idea.

One of canada's biggest bases is located in New Brunswick, near the capital of fredericton. It could be that they are doing training exercises. It's been a week since the day in question, and like last week this thursday has been exceptionally clear. The difference is, there is no air traffic...i've been staring out my windows through out the day, and i haven't even noticed one contrail in the sky. Which is normal for this region. I wonder what was going on a week ago?

So your based in NB then? If your looking for info great people to get help from is the aviation threads section. As BT has already said flight aware is the main tracking site I'm aware of. I'm sure we could get more information. Anything I could do to help or also you said you had photo evidence as well and if you have a photo of a plane I can almost 100% say that myself or one of the aviation nuts I'm friends with on the forums can identify it in under 24 hours.

Likewise, I have access to people who know a lot about planes - but probably shouldn't be allowed to meet with the public...

some of them, leave a little to be desired in the interpersonal communications stakes!

New Brunswick, Canada, is right slat bang in the middle of where nearly every single commercial aircraft flying from the East coast of America flies over to get to Europe.

Due tue prevailing winds a jetway over the atlantic can be moved right over you, the result can be an absolutely huge amount of planes flying directly above your head.

lets just say i'm a little slow on the uptake... which forums are those then?

i've not seen them yet, but to be honest i haven't explored that much of ats.

basically i've only used the area 51, government projects and weapons forums

(as for new brunswick - I was over the top of you about 14 hours ago, on my way back from florida!)
