Possible Hacker Threat

Okay so there is a video spreading on a social networking site that is supposed to be a virus/worm, it changes your copy and paste to the video code so that you make it spread to your friends. The video is just a blank regular flash movie like a youtube one, you dont have to run it to be infected it's automatic. If you press play im told that it gives your IP adress out to hackers.

.......My copy & paste did change to the video code and i pushed play. I scanned my computer but no virus was found. So how much risk am i in right now from a hacker, and what can i do to prevent one?.

Im just about to clear my Temp/Cookies etc.. and run a scan again. Anybody got any more tips on what to do?.

If you are worried about a hacker getting your ip address, you can change it. Here, this should be able to walk you though it.

If indeed your computer has been infected, changing your IP address will not help you, as you still have the infection on your computer and it does not care what IP you have.

That said, I DO have some suggestions that will clean and protect your computer.

You did not indicate what operating system you have, so for now I will assume XP (yeah I know about assuming, but I must start somewhere)

You need to download, install, update and run the following programs (all free and LEGAL!!!)

Avg anti-virus, anti-rootkit, anti-spyware:
free.grisoft.com...

adawear 2007:
www.download.com...

ccleaner:
filehippo.com...

Spybot search and distroy:
www.download.com...

Zonealarm Firewall:
www.download.com...

After installing all the above, update each program.
Now, run each program until it stops finding problems then move to the next one.

This should do a nice job of cleaning.
After you are done, don't forget to make sure you have all the latest M$ updates as well as then rebooting-full shut down-not reboot-and then running the system defragger (start>programs>accessories>system tools>defragger).
