Obama's Church and its Leader etc...

Friends,
When I see a bigot, especially a Jew hating one, I don't really care what his or her political stripes are. David Duke, Cynthia McKinney - Republican or Democrat, makes no difference to me. I would have nothing to do with this person and would be the first one to stand up and condemn him. I would surely expect the same reaction from one who aspires to become President of the United States. Which brings me to Barack Obama who is a proud member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.
This church is headed by the Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. who is on record as referring to Israel as an apartheid state and calling for a boycott of Israel as punishment for its treatment of the oppressed Palestinians. Don't forget that Obama, recently in Iowa, referred to the Palestinians as, "The most oppressed people on earth." And guess who the oppressors are? It gets more interesting.
The church's web site lists The Trumpet News Magazine as one of its publications and has a link to it. You will find that the latest issue is dedicated to none other than the Rev. Louis Farrrakhan who was the church's recipient of its "2007 Lifetime Achievement Award." Holy Smokes! Obama's church honoring this country's most vicious Jew/white hater and its most prestigious member remains silent about this?
Makes you wonder about the media getting all hyped up about Romney's Mormonism and Huckabee's deep seated religious beliefs doesn't it?
Someone should question Democrat Congressman Robert Wexler, who is the chair of Obama's Florida campaign about this. Makes you wonder how Obama is never asked how he feels about his church honoring Farrakhan. I wonder if any of the Democrat Jewish elected officials in Congress have ever asked him about this?

There are some Israelis who don't think the Palestinians are treated fairly. To oppose some of Israel's policies is not necessarily to be anti-Semitic. I'm a supporter of Israel--it is a strong ally of the United States--but I do think some mistakes have been made in regards to the Palestinians. Would I support Palestine against Israel? No, if it came down to that, I wouldn't. But that doesn't mean I think Israel is perfect, anymore than my own country is perfect.

Obama may have stirred up a hornet's nest on this issue.

I'm no fan of Farrakhan's, I do think he's hostile to whites, and perhaps to Jews as alleged, but Obama cannot be held responsible for everything his church does. It seems that his church is just as much an issue as Romney's or Huckabee's are. IMO, some voters will consider any black church racist just because it's black. Martin Luther King once said Sunday mornings were the most segregated hours of the week. Historically, African Americans have been either shunned or ignored when it came to the churches, and that divide has still not been successfully crossed. In the meantime, if a church uplifts and inspires its own community that can't be a bed thing.

Farrakhan may be a problem for Obama, but the voters he's likely to lose are not the ones who would have voted for him anyway.
