NEW YORK - The fiancee of a man who was fatally stabbed early Friday says she thinks he died trying to help a transit worker who was being mugged at knifepoint by a group of young men. Police said the chaotic scene at 139th Street and Nicholas Avenue involved a subway conductor on his way home from work late Thursday, a band of muggers, and Flonarza Byas, the bystander who was stabbed to death in the fray.
Flonarza Byas, 27, was slain trying to help Maurice Parks, who had been stabbed in the stomach and was fending off a group of muggers. NY Post
