VALLETTA, Malta, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- The European Union anthem rang out in Malta marking the official adoption of the euro as its national currency.

yeah, it's very surprising that they got the economy in shape for the euro zone that quickly.

anyway, speaking as someone who experienced the switchover from the lira to the euro, i must say that it's been a good thing

...except for the amount of change i have now. oh, and the bus fares are now at 47 cents, which is harder to get exact change on, before it was just a straight 20 cents
