cmex-www.arc.nasa.gov...

Read this, Kano, it describes what NASA thinks about conditions on Mars and what kind of life forms to expect, where to find them and how to tell they are there.

Plus the action plan for the current rover missions. All from 1995.

It even addresses your thoughts about the radiation and how life forms could have evolved in that enviroment.

They know, they know what there is (to an extent) and they know exactly where to find it.

The current missions are doing the step by step evaluation exactly like they planned since 1995.

Why they do not tell the public, well I guess thats why there will always be the unknown.

A good find robertfenix, covers the theory, strategy and plans for the future exploration of Mars as of 1995. Obviously some failures and budgetary constraints seem to have choked this a little. But it does put the current landings in perspective.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here, its hosted publically on a NASA site. How are they 'not telling the public'.
