Musharraf Dares Washington!!

timesnow.tv

In what seems to be an open dare by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, and his sternest language yet with Washington - Musharraf has said that any unilateral action by US-led forces in the border region with Afghanistan will be regarded as an invasion.

Musharraf told Singapore's The Straits Times that Islamabad would resist any entry by coalition forces in the tribal areas to hunt down Islamic militants, regarding that as a breach of Pakistan's sovereignty.

Just bombast or does he mean it? I personally feel Musharraf is playing to the audience at home! Remember the incident when the Pakistan government was pretty embarrassed and made to look lame when the Jihadis and opposition parties went to town when American troops entered a few hundred meters into Pakistan territory during a pursuit op against the Al Qaeda?

Pakistan has been under pressure from Washington to stamp out al Qaeda and pro-Taliban militants US officials believe are hiding in remote regions along the border with Afghanistan and fomenting violence there.

So where are they hiding? Here's a map of the area..

I feel the only way these thousands of Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists hiding in the tribal areas of North Waziristan can be neutralized (by inflicting heavy casualties) is by a massive air effort on their camps and hideouts like what was dished out in Afghanistan against the Taliban.

Of course, this would not be a permanent solution as these militants could regroup again. But this would not only lower their morale, but recouping losses in terms of men and equipment would not be possible in the short term.

And this despite Musharraf's bombast! Let's call his bluff!

oh please, all this political posturing for the masses...come on we all know that mushy musharraf is in the back pocket of western (UK/US) governments. it really is getting quite tedious eating into valuable media time. and anyways what would happen if it was true? a bunch of religious zealots armed with ak's and rpg's shouting death to the infidel?...apart from selling newspapers this is just another farce

he also says; ... he will resign

if the opposition parties try to impeach him after the February elections.

wow, on one hand he's slapping the USAs hand on the War-on-Terror,
while at the same time encouraging the USA to support his claim of leadership, or the USA could lose an ally...

he's a complex guy (a democratic-dictator no less)

Well this is not the first time he has dared US when it comes to the border with Afghanistan, but then he is very much financially persuaded to be more cooperative by the US.

He knows that if he resigns Pakistan will fall into the hands of radical groups, with all the money he probably have in Swiss accounts he can live like a king.

Well, if this is true then this must be too.

shrub has no right to send troops or agents, covert or otherwise inside another countries borders.

And these guys have nukes.
bush = megalomaniac

Does an ex-president still secret service protection?
Looks like he's going to need it - all these enemies he's made won't go away just because he leaves office.

I hate to say it, but fingers crossed - some of his own medicine.

I could say the same thing for candidates eager to be President. Already got Secret Service protection. Man they got enemies already before they even get elected.
