Bird Flu Discovered In Mute Swans

Three mute swans in Dorset have been found dead with the virulent H5N1 strain of bird flu.

Other birds are being tested at Abbotsbury Swannery, near Weymouth, UK, but so far culling has been ruled out.

Acting Chief Veterinary Officer Fred Landeg said: "Our message to all bird keepers, particularly those in the area, is that they must be vigilant."

So, yet another bird flu outbreak here in the UK. This time though it's wild swans that have been infected. They're saying on BBC news that if they try and capture the wild swans in their swannery, there's fears they could be panicked and fly off, therefor possibly spreading the virus further afield than the agreed 15 mile restriction zone
