"In my mind, waves are waves," he said. "It was hard for me to imagine that something you could do with electromagnetic waves would be completely undoable for sound waves."

While invisibility cloaks for visible light are considered to be maybe 5 years away, it was previously thought that cloaks for sonar invisibility were much further. While they do lag, it seems that both will be possible in the not too distant future.

Wow, cool!

Though the question that always comes up in my mind when they talk about bending light waves (in this case sound) around an object... how would you see/hear outside of it? Some kind of signal would have to get through.

Thanks for the Skunkworks info and just maybe this has been going on for years out of the sheeples line of sight. This is definitely an ET project that will be adapted to our world.
This explains why we see shadow beings in our dark bedrooms, right, beamiing radio waves through the walls and injecting a light generated 3D image showing up on the other side as a dark shadow in the shape of a human being, wow, it explains alot to what our gov is and has been doing, so do you like Kruel's idea, could they impose audible messages along with the shadows. great info, gwhint

Hi Kruel,
Not sure what you mean. Do you mean how would you see hear if you are inside of it? If that's the question, as I understand it, you would not see anything or hear anything from inside unless you have some gaps in the cloak. This was addressed in a previous article that I've read on the subject. It's mentioned at the bottom of this article:

Hello Lifestudent,
I hope I didn't offend you with my new posting on this subject, I really think there is something more to it and I just want to thank you for the great posting. I inserted it into my new thread here on ATS ONLY:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I hope I am following the rules for reposting and forgive me if I'm not,but time and T&C of ATS will teach me proper edicate, but then just maybe there are no takers for my new post.

ps: It may be a far off way of thinking crazy thoughts but then, this is what ATS has over so many other web sites the chance to dream such thoughts and the gathering of the great minds.

Hi gwhint,
I don't personally have a problem with it, but I'm not sure if it's correct following of T&C's or not. I think typically you're supposed to not branch off threads, but I have no personal attachment to my posts except the interest in discussion. I'm sure some mod will let us know

On another note, I'm not sure I understand how this would be used to redirect a beam of light from one place to another though.

When I first learned about this technology, I did think about the fact that since effectively, this makes the "Predator" invisibility armor a scientific reality within about 10 years that there's no real reason advanced species couldn't be anywhere they'd like without being visible to our senses. If course, that is unless they smell really bad

Kind if provides an explanation of why when logically, IMO, existence of ETs make sense, that they're so hard to confirm. If they have this technology, which most likely any advanced species would, it would really be up to them whether or not we ever saw them.

At this point, with wireless data communication, invisibility, proof of the possibility of teleportation, quantum computing, advances in DNA, beam weapons, etc. There's just about nothing that we think of as magic that can't be explained via technology. Of course, we haven't let go of the stigma that anyone who believes in things we are too primitive to understand must be a loon.

Thanks lifestudent, for your honesty and sorry if I overstepped my boundaries on reposting, maybe a mod can tell both of us and to me as long as it stays in the ATS bandwidth, then all that views will know who started what and therefore the OP will get all the credit, maybe it would be wise for us to give special mention to the poster'r, what do you think, but its just an interesting field for me to look into, my background is from the old radio engineering days, as well as, old defense engineering technologies, so you see why it throws up a flag and then, the what if's go buzzing in my clouded head, thanks for the informative post, it helps the blood flow in us old gizzers, lol.
